One Way or Another

While relaxing in the seaside city of Fethiye, Turkey, portrait artist Marco Polo Mahoney watches in horror as an injured woman plunges over the side of a 50-foot yacht into the Aegean Sea to an almost-certain death. As the yacht continues on course, leaving the woman in its wake, Marco springs into action. In spite of his best efforts, he's unable to locate the wounded woman in the dark waters.

Even though everyone around him questions whether or not he really saw what he says he saw, Marco stubbornly sticks to his story. Even if no one believes him, he will never forget the sight of the helpless woman and the sinister-looking black yacht. In fact, the image haunts him day and night --- so much so that he launches his own investigation into the woman's apparent death.

When his sleuthing leads only to dead ends, Marco reluctantly decides to leave Turkey and return home to Paris and the work that awaits him. When a mechanical problem causes his flight to be delayed indefinitely, he's amazed to receive an offer of a lift on the private plane of billionaire Ahmet Ghulbian. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, Marco accepts the lift.

"This spine-tingling thriller will give us good reason to question whether or not those around us are exactly what they seem and make us wonder about the secrets those nearest and dearest to us may hold."

Before long, Ghulbian has hired Marco to paint his portrait and employed Marco's girlfriend, Martha, an interior designer, to refurbish his imposing home located in the desolate marshlands off the coast of England. Even Martha's younger sister, Lucy, has become part of the plan when she acts as Martha's assistant.

At first, the trio are awed by Ghulbian's wealth and generosity. As time passes, however, they become aware that under the friendly facade lies a man as cold and calculating as they come. What have they let themselves in for when they became involved with the man who causes shivers to travel down their spines and the hairs on the backs of their necks to stand on end?

As if Ghulbian isn't creepy enough, his personal assistant, Mehitabel, who unquestioningly carries out Ghulbian's every desire, is evil personified. Privy to Ghulbian's deepest, darkest secrets, Mehitabel acts as his eyes and ears to report back to him on the actions of Marco, Martha and Lucy.

As time passes, it becomes apparent that Ghulbian's friendship with Marco, Martha and Lucy is anything but coincidental. The deeper the three dig into their new friend's life, the more they realize they've fallen into the trap of a mercurial monster. The only question now is how to extricate themselves from the spider's web of death and deception into which they've become entangled.

ONE WAY OR ANOTHER introduces us to one of the most evil characters to spring forth from author Elizabeth Adler's pen to date. This spine-tingling thriller will give us good reason to question whether or not those around us are exactly what they seem and make us wonder about the secrets those nearest and dearest to us may hold. The book draws to a close with a terrifying climax that leaves us eagerly turning the pages to see if evil will prevail or if good will save the day in the end.
