Sarah is a young professor at a well-known university on a temporary contract. When her contract renewal comes up for review, and the possibility of being awarded a permanent contract is considered, she is hopeful that this will be the year for that to happen. Last year, she was passed over in favor of a male colleague.

This year, Sarah has been invited to the home of Alan Hawthorne, a bigwig at the university who rakes in millions of dollars for the school in terms of research grants, and has great influence over who is awarded permanent contracts. She gets her hopes up even higher than usual, only to have them dashed again.

"The writing...is fast-paced, the chapters are short, the characters are well-developed, the theme is an interesting one, and author T. M. Logan includes many plot twists that will keep you guessing until the very end..."

To the outside world, Hawthorne appears to be a charming, magnanimous person. But to the staff at the university, particularly the female ones, he is a thorn in their side, a manipulative male chauvinist who is constantly harassing and sexually assaulting them. The women, though, are cowed by his power and authority, and the one person who publicly challenged him ended up losing her job and her career.

Through a chance encounter with a wealthy and powerful man, Sarah is given the opportunity to make Hawthorne disappear so he can no longer harass her or anyone else --- and she is sorely tempted to take him up on this offer. Will a 29-second phone call change her life forever?

The storyline takes many interesting and unexpected twists and turns. It brings a question to the forefront that is probably not discussed much: If you had the chance to make someone you intensely dislike --- who is making your life miserable --- disappear, and no one would be able to trace the incident back to you, would you do it?

The writing in 29 SECONDS is fast-paced, the chapters are short, the characters are well-developed, the theme is an interesting one, and author T. M. Logan includes many plot twists that will keep you guessing until the very end --- which, when combined, make for a story that is well worth reading.
