What is your favorite bookstore, and why do you like it?

Bonnie Szul
Books-A-Million
They always have what I am looking for, and they have very pleasant employees.

Phyllis Friedland
Borders, because they have a wide selection of books, and because they send marvelous discount coupons every week via email.

Freda McNulty
My favorite bookstore is Barnes & Noble because they always have great prices on the books I enjoy reading.

Bob Hartzo
Christianbook.com
It has excellent prices, etc.

Cindy Smith
Atlantic Book Warehouse
Sadly, it is going out of business. It's just a big warehouse with tons of books, but you never know what you'll run across --- lots of fun stuff you won't find in a Borders or Barnes & Noble. Only once did I ever go in there with a credit card. I walked out with two huge bags of books. Since then, I leave the cards at home and go in with a set amount of cash!

Lynn
Powell's in downtown Portland, Oregon! It is huge, invites roaming and leafing through books, and combines new and used on the same shelves. I can spend hours and hours in there.

Jane Haase
Joseph-Beth Bookstore in Lexington, KY and Davis-Kidd Bookstore in Nashville, TN. Both of these are my favorite stores to browse for hours. My online favorite (which it seems I am buying more and more from!) is Amazon.com.

Shannon Jensen
Barnes & Noble
We have one that's local. I like the seating that's available so that I can sit and look through books before deciding on purchases. Also, it makes for a great people-watching experience.

Linda Hodgkins
Borders Books
The staff is always friendly and helpful, they always have what I want or can get it to me quickly, and have great hardcover prices on new releases of my favorite authors.

Ann Rumsey
Amazon (though it is hard to only name one!)
I can't go wrong with the fast shipping and rarely-out-of-stock availability of what I want and at discounted prices.

Sue Spencer
Powell's in Portland OR. They sell new and used books, and the store is four stories high and covers a whole city block. You can spend a whole day there, which I do, because Powell's is 220 miles away.

Louise Pledge
I check BetterWorldBooks.com first. They have a huge selection, great price, free shipping, and best of all the proceeds go towards world literacy. They provide books for children who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to read.

Often you get to choose which cause you want your money to go to. And their customer service is terrific! Check them out next time you're looking for a book. They have both new and used titles.

Dolores
Amazon.com
I like shopping online, their selection is great, and I can pre-order books and set up a wish list.

Judy
Borders
I can always find something interesting to read, and I get a discount. The only thing is that it is 60 miles from home, so I only go there about once every other month.

Andrea
Dubray Books in Galway City, Ireland
The store has a great selection of books and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Lana E. Mason
Kazoo Books (both I and II) in Kalamazoo, Michigan --- they have used and new books plus book clubs, and support area Friends of the Library by donating books to their book sales. Great people!

Mary Allen
Tower, in Shreveport,LA.
It is locally owned and the employees are accessible and make suggestions as to what books are good that I might enjoy.

Marjorie L. Carmony
Amazon.com --- because it is so easy to order from and most books are available.

Also, I love the used book store, Book World. They have an excellent selection and good prices.

Lisa
Twice Told Tales and Moonstone Mystery Books in Flemington NJ. I love it because it combines a huge selection of used books in a variety of genres, as well as new books --- New York Timesbestsellers, mysteries and children's books. The store is well organized, the owner is friendly and very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. A real gem!

MJB
My favorite bookstore is a big book warehouse. The book selection is the biggest I have seen anywhere and they have thousands of books in all genres. If you are looking for an older book, chances are you will find it here. All books, even new releases, are sold at a discounted price. A few times a year they have a box sale. You can buy as many books as you can fit into a box for $30. They also have discount coupons available for customers. You could spend a day browsing and still not see all the books. The best thing is you always leave with something.

Carol Pirtle
Barnes & Noble, because of its comfortable atmosphere and the wide range of books they carry. I also like Left Bank Books, and independent bookstore in St. Louis.

Elizabeth V
My favorite bookstore is Borders Books for three reasons: 1) They have a "Rewards" program that is free to join and that entitles me to 40-percent off many books, 2) I can get Borders gift cards through the gather.com point system, and 3) I can get "Rewards" points for $15 off at Borders through the e-rewards.com point system. I love cheap books!

Fran Schroeder
Amazon

Mary Donner
My favorite bookstore closed so now I have to use either Borders or Barnes & Noble. They are pretty much interchangeable, but Boarders wins for the nicer employees.

Cam
I live in the Pawleys Island area of SC, where there is a wonderful book store --- Litchfield Book Store. It is an independent book store where the owners are visible and always around to talk "books". They are very involved in what is called the "Moveable Feast"( in conjunction with the local community learning group). For a modest fee, we meet for lunch at a different local restaurant with an author who discusses and signs his/her book. It would take a page and a half to list the names of the authors we've been privileged to see, but among them were Jodi Picoult, Pat Conroy, Anne Rivers Siddons and Ron Rash. I think that Litchfield Books is such a great asset to our area, and we book lovers are so fortunate to be able to take advantage of this program.

Mary Angela Young
Barnes & Noble because they really have a great setup for kids, as well as adults, to enjoy their store. I think it is really important for kids to like to go book shopping, and Barnes & Noble really creates a very kid-friendly environment.

Bobbie Cloud
Barnes & Noble --- but only a particular one in our city. I know the entire layout and the people there are so friendly. The store just makes sense to me, while not all B & N's do!

Kathy Vieira
I actually have 2 favorites. I love Browser Books in Seekonk, MA, a used book store where I always come out with a full bag! It's got great atmosphere, with pleasant music playing at all times. I also love Borders Books in North Attleboro, MA. Between the books and the cafe, what more could you want?

Janet Goodwin
my favorite bookstore is Porter Square Books in Cambridge, MA. It is one of the rare independent bookstores left and it is a wonderful place to browse. They also have a lot of wonderful author events.

LuAnn Morgan
Barnes & Noble
Not only does it have great books, it also has everything related to reading --- bookmarks, journals, calendars, magazines, notepads, pens, lap desks, etc., etc. Plus, it has a super atmosphere and nice people.

Dona Malesic
Amazon.com --- it is convenient and offers free shipping for orders $25 or more, which usually is not a problem. I also get bonus points with my Amazon card.

Jeannie
The library
They have every type of book imaginable, from novels to reference. Twice a year, they have a Library Book Sale with prices from $.25 to $3.00 (new books) and $4.00 a bag full on the last day of the sale, which runs from Thursday to Sunday. For someone in my position, who cannot afford the price of a new book, it is wonderful and I look forward to the sales every year. I now have 3 large bookcases with many more novels that someone else had bought from the Book Clubs, Walmarts, and Box Book Stores, at only a small fraction of the price of the book. When I finish a book it goes on to someone else in my position, or back to the Library for the next book lover to find.

Carol Fox
Amazon.co.uk
Okay, so it's an online book store, but it's the only place where I can get American novels living in England.

Karen
Kepler's Books in Menlo Park, CA
Why? Because of the great staff --- they always take the time to help you find the perfect book. Make that books, as you can never leave with just one!

Kisah Jackson
Murder on the Beach
It's a locally-owned mystery bookstore. The staff is friendly and super-informed, and I could easily spend hours in that store finding titles I can't find anywhere else.

Sandy Greathouse
Borders
I like it because it is laid out nicely and it's easy to browse through. It has a "homey" atmosphere too, with chairs and a cafe for coffee, lots of friendly clerks, and plenty of books to peruse at your leisure. I could stay there all day, and at times, I have!

Becky
Unabridged Books, Broadway St, Chicago, IL
The clerks actually read books and can always offer good suggestions. If I am looking for specific book, even when I can't remember the author's name or the name of the book, when I describe it --- they know it!

Annie
Barnes & Noble on E. 54th st and 3rd ave, in NYC --- Chances are you'll find any book you're looking for and all the help you'll need to order it if it's not in stock.

Mary Ferwerda
Barnes & Noble in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The staff has all become like my family in the past ten years and treat me as special.

Gary
My public library's used book sales

Frank Burnett
BarnesandNoble.com
They offer deep discounts for members and the ability to purchase the same book cheaper on their used vendor site. Sometimes the book from them is brand new and cost much less than the Barnes and Noble site.

Mary Ann Brown
Borders
The stock is good, the ambiance is reader friendly, and it's a good place to spend an hour browsing and having a cup of coffee.

Melissa Monahan
Barnes & Noble, because it has a huge variety and it is very comfortable to walk around and sit awhile.

Jaye
Broadway Books in Portland Oregon
I like the careful book selection and the emphasis on local books and authors.

Nana
The Learned Owl in Hudson Ohio
This is one of the few Independent bookstores around ... in a quaint old historical small town.

Mary Q.
The Tattered Cover in Denver, CO
It's independently owned, unique and interesting, with lots of nooks and crannies filled with books, and lots of authors eagerly come to any one of its three Denver locations for readings/signings throughout the year.

Sharon
I should write about a small intimate bookstore, but I like Barnes & Noble. Instead of hitting a bar at night, my sister and I get together at, B & N. We will each pick a couple books and with a cup of a warm tea we read to each other excerpts of our chosen books. By the closing time, we may or may not have chosen a book. We have purchased a membership so everything --- including our tea --- is discounted.

Pam Sekula
I love going online to Amazon.com. Best of all, if I feel like taking a browse through the virtual bookshelves at 3 a.m., I can!

Marian Furukawa
I enjoy Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, AZ. Not only is it an independent bookseller, but it also has the most amazing array of books and other products I've seen, unusual artistic gifts, and a helpful staff with many of their favorite picks showcased for the shoppers.

Gail B
Books-A-Million in Knoxville, because it has everything I am looking for in a bookstore, including a cafe and a huge bargain books section.

Amy W.
Waldenbooks, because it just a few blocks from my house.

MHH
There's a new Barnes & Noble at the new mall in Macon, Georgia. It is huge with practically any book you could want. The staff is helpful and never hurry you if you are browsing.

Charles Fraker
Creatures 'n Crooks in Richmond, Va.
It's the only bookstore in the area that specializes in science-fiction, horror, and mystery. They're great folks who are very helpful with reading suggestions and will order anything they don't have. And I can't forget to mention Hamilton, the bookstore cat.

Ronnie
Barns & Noble
Big, very comfortable, with lots of seating and lots of choices!

Linda
Sister Wolf Books in Dorset, MN
They have friendly staff who have great recommendations, free gift wrapping, and a superb coffee bar. What's not to like?

Susan
Amazon.com

It's easy to order from them, plus free shipping for orders over $25, which I use by saving up books to order. Also, they offer great discounts on prices.

Debbie
Books a Million --- The good selection, specials for members, and pre-ordering of have-to-have books are all reasons to love this store. But, my number one reason would have to be that I met my husband there.

To make a long story short, I had my arms full and was walking to another section when I passed a display that caught my attention enough to look to the side, but not enough to stop me in my tracks...that is, until I bumped into a man, literally, and whatever we both had in our hands fell to the floor in a jumbled mess. I kept apologizing, and he kept telling me that it was okay. I told him my middle name was Ann, which is supposed to mean graceful, but obviously it wasn't working...and apologized again. (Turns out his mother's name was Ann.) After my third or fourth apology, he told me if I felt that bad, I could buy him a cup of coffee ---which I did, in Joe Muggs right there in the store. Hours later, we were still talking, and we exchanged email addresses since he was from out of town. We only wrote back and forth for a week before he asked for my phone number, and then we talked for hours again. We agreed to get together the next afternoon, and we talked and walked and talked some more. I should mention that I was a widow of 3 1/2 years (but a young 50), and later that week he came to the house to meet my extended family. We spent time e-mailing, and phoning and driving back and forth to see each other for the next 9 months before we were married --- and we have been together for 6 wonderful years. My son and his daughter were our attendants and our blended family does blend very well.

Jean Craig
Books-A-Million
It has a wide range of books and they will get anything in that I am looking for.

Michele L.
My favorite bookstore is Barnes & Noble. I love the inviting atmosphere with the comfy chairs. Also, the aroma from the coffee at Starbucks is just wonderful! It reminds me of home!

Melissa Stream
Snowbound Books in Marquette, MI --- once a year I go to see my aunt and uncle in the UP of MI and I always have to go to Snowbound. First of all, who wouldn't love to be "snowbound" in a cozy bookstore? Second, they are an independent store that sells new and used books, and their staff picks are always great. I always find books that I just don't see highlighted in bookstores near my home, 6 hours south of the UP.

ck
The owners of The Bookshelf are true book lovers, willing to share ideas even when they know you will go to the library for most of your books. They co-operate with sales for schools, sponsor book drives for inner-city schools, invite authors and illustrators for book signings and compete enthusiastically with the big box stores.

New Orleans Reader
Octavia Books, an independent bookstore in New Orleans. A trip to Octavia is like visiting family. The staff always greets me by name. They know their stock and can make appropriate suggestions, whether I'm buying books for myself or as gifts for others ranging in age from 1 to 75. They are also very reliable in finding and obtaining books not on their shelves.

Ed Hahn
Powell's in Portland, Oregon.

It is the only store I've found that puts used copies next to new copies and hardcovers next to paperbacks so you have a choice. They have a super-knowledgeable and helpful staff who actually read; a great coffee shop into which you can take unlimited books for review or reading if that's what you want; informative newsletters and other net mailings.

The main store is has a great location, and the branch stores are fully stocked, except for the airport store. They have an efficient book-buying system and super efficient check-out counters. They're huge, but well organized Plus, they have an efficient and user-friendly computerized book locator system.

Irene
Barnes and Noble --- They have a great variety of books from baby to Senior, a Starbucks cafe, comfortable chairs, very helpful staff, and music next door. I like everything about this bookstore.

Nancy
The Bookworm Shop in Katy, Texas. It is quaint with personal service. Has used and new books and can order books as well.

Richard Bartels
I buy very few books, going to the library weekly. But when I do buy books I usually go to Goodwill and get them secondhand. I always stock up just before a vacation, so I feel comfortable leaving the books behind as I read them.

John Stover
The Abraham Lincoln Bookshop in Chicago, Illinois

Donna
Barnes & Nobles in Anchorage, AK
It has a comfortable atmosphere, fireplace, comfortable chairs throughout the store, and of course, a Starbucks!

Jamille Krupa
I go to the used book sales and get most of my books. Mind you, you will have to wait for bestsellers to be found, but for $1 to $2 it is worth it. And, kids books are only $.50. In this economy crunch, it's the best deal around.

Bonnie Cooper
Powell's Book Store in Portland, OR
I like it because it is HUGE, well arranged, contains both new and used books (intermingled) and is just a great bookstore! There is also a Powells.com

Peggy
Barnes and Noble
It is just so full of books of all kinds and jumbled about in so many areas you can actually hide out with a favorite book and feel like you are in an old bookstore.

Kathryn McNamara
Borders in Danbury, CT. The store is easy to navigate, and the help is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Most are real book lovers. It's far more personal than the local B&N. We don't have any indies in the immediate area.

AC
Watchung Booksellers
Montclair, NJ

The staff is first rate, the author events are fabulous, and the store is cozy and welcoming.

Katherine Stephens
Barnes and Noble
They always have what I need and usually have a Starbucks inside also. Coffee and Books! What a wonderful combo!

Kim Kovacs
Wyeast Book Store on Mt. Hood. I like it because it's an independently-owned shop that stocks quality books. I always find something I like there, and the owner is always helpful in recommending others I might enjoy. I don't live close enough to attend any of their store events, but for a small store, they do host quite a few lectures, book signings and book clubs. Plus, they've got a couple of store cats, which is always a bonus in my mind!

Juanita Adamson
My local library! Wonderful service, and the price is right --- free!

Bob Coghill
Title Wave Bookstore in Anchorage
I appreciate the friendly knowledgeable staff. Too often in the chain store, I have met sales people who are unaware of a new translation of WAR & PEACE, or even who Emile Zola might be.

I purchase most of my new and used books at this bookstore in person when I can, and by mail when I cannot.

Sallie
The Twig in San Antonio, TX

It's not a huge store but they have a large offering and the staff is very warm and friendly. I always find something and whoever's working can always make a great recommendation --- they know books!

Carolyn Moy
Island Books, my local independent bookstore in Middletown, RI. I like it because they always have titles in stock that I am interested in, but haven't heard about. The staff greets me by name and are always helpful.

David Rudy
Borders Books
It is close, has a good supply of both books and music, and has great coffee spot to drink coffee and browse books that I may be considering.

Mary Z
My favorite new bookstore is Borders because they have great selections and a remarkable sale table.

My favorite used bookstore is a local shop called Brown's, which has a great read-and-return section.

Lindy
Remarkable Books in Westport, CT, which closed more than 10 yrs ago. I hate book chains.

Lori Schultz
Half Price Books
Not only do they have thousands of books at 1/2 price, but they also have an entire room of books for $1, plus CDs , DVDs, LPs, and quirky little gifts scattered throughout the store.

Germany
Any Books Inc. in the San Francisco bay area
I love the fact that the workers know so much about what is new and offer great advice on what to read!

Kathy
Barnes & Noble
It has a huge selection and it's fun to browse.

Betty Burrier
My favorite bookstore is Barnes & Noble. I love this store because it always has the latest books available and as a member, I can always receive a great discount on the bestsellers.

Sherman Hughes
Barnes & Noble, because it always smells like fresh coffee! I also like their display of new books and their Discover New Authors program.

Barbara
Amazon.com, because I can buy used or nearly new copies, even of recently released books. I only read a book once so I feel it is foolish to pay full price.

Barbara Bocan
Vromans in Pasadena, CA --- It's so cozy with oodles of books and great events.

Cat Matkovic
Barnes and Noble
It's kind of cozy, with overstuffed chairs and a coffee shop, and is just a great place to relax.

David
My favorite bookstore would have to be my local B&N. I used to live right across the street from it, and was probably there 3-4 times a week. The convenience of the store being so close, and thereby knowing most of the associates that worked there since I frequented the store so much, just made for a really nice shopping experience. Since I've moved to the other side of town, I don't make it there quite as often, but I still stop by at least once a week.

Krishna
I really like Barnes & Noble because they have a really good section of books on sale -- including hardbacks.

Carol
Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh, NC

Audrey Blake
Our local bookstore closed recently, so now I have to buy from Amazon. When we go out of town, I make sure to visit a book store, which means I always end up buying something!

Audrey Shaffer
Amazon.com is my favorite bookstore. I love being able to shop from home at any time of the day or night. The selection is immense, and I can quite often buy used books, in good shape, for less than half the price.

Anne Knaack
Borders, because they always have the latest books, and the store is arranged very nicely.

Debbie
Magnolia's Bookstore is my favorite --- partly because I get to work there (part time), and partly because the selection of books is great and really tailored to the neighborhood. What isn't on the shelf can be ordered in, usually arriving within a day or two. The staff is knowledgeable (some more than others, it's true) and friendly.

Linda S. Miller
Books-A-Million

Barbara Broberg
Barnes & Noble --- always friendly and helpful.

Karen Terry
it is not my favorite, but I like Books-A-Milllion. I like to go browse through the bookstore. I normally get my books at the library.

Regina Pride
Borders Books in Cleveland Heights OH. I love the huge selection of books.

Danelle Drake
My favorite is Malprops right here in Asheville, North Carolina. There are books from the "book of the day" to books that are wonderful from every nook and cranny of the world. There are always tons of interesting people there browsing, and the trip is always worth it.

A. J. Burch (Ms.)
The Book Mart, a fine local establishment that is homey as only a local store could be. It has been around, I think, at least 30 years, and focuses on Florida books --- especially area local authors --- and, of course, all the bestsellers to used books. The "resident" cat is an added bonus: stories have been told about him (he goes home at night with the owners) and he is quite famous in here. The book is also unique because the store is in the lobby of an old motel on Highway 19 North in Perry, Florida. The local flavor is very popular. I've been to all the big book stores, really love 'em, but this one beats them all!

Mary
I like Barnes & Noble. I enjoy the selection and the sales people are helpful and usually know their authors. I like the discounts for members and the emails with suggested books. Sometimes I go just for a cup of Starbucks and to skim a magazine and swear I won't buy any books, but the stack of books by the front door is more than I can resist. I would like to patronize small, local books stores more often, I really would --- but Barnes & Noble just offers so much more, and in this economy the lower prices are a huge factor.

Elizabeth V
Borders, because 1) they have a "Rewards" Program that is free to join, in which members receive 40% off bestsellers and coupons by e-mail; 2) they offer 15 Reward points to e-rewards members; and 3) they offer gift cards for gather.com points.

Billie McHam
Borders - There's always a good selection, and they offer good coupons for up to 30% off if you belong to their rewards club, in which there's no fee to join.

Linda Bedell
Barnes & Noble on Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You can browse all you want and never feel pressured to buy or to leave. When you need help, someone is ready to assist in a lickety-split moment.

Beth Cummings
My favorite bookstore is/was the Barnes & Noble in Fargo, ND. I used to live there and that B&N has so many comfy overstuffed chairs and so many convenient tables that there is always a good spot to peruse a few books before buying. It is where my book club met --- there was an area with tables we could pull together for a group of 10-12. They also have a coffee shop area. It was a much friendlier atmosphere than the same store brand in my current city.

Lyn Biederstedt
The Poisoned Pen in Scottsdale, AZ is my favorite bookstore because of the tremendous selection of quality mysteries and the warm atmosphere provided by the people who work there. Since I live in North Dakota, it is always a treasured experience to visit in person.

Robert E Brown Sr

Lois Cairl
I want to support a local bookseller, but I have to confess my favorite bookstore is Barnes and Noble. Why? Because it is there, lights on, doors open, coffe ready, tons of books, magazines...what is not to like?

Michelle
Books Unlimited is my favorite bookstore! It sells used books for half the marked price. Then, it buys them back for half of what you paid. It has even started to carry audiobooks and a few hardbacks. This store is wonderful or the shopper,, the stock is arranged by genre, then alphabetical order. The aisles are wide, and it is CLEAN.

Jude
Barnes & Noble for their volume of books, their discounts, their and Discover Great New Writers program.

Also, Booksmith, a local independent bookstore, because it carries so many local interest books and local authors. The personal attention is another plus.

Jessie
I love Barnes & Noble. They always have a great selection to choose from and there's always a quiet little place for me to sit down and dig through my stack of books. I never feel rushed into having to make decisions and I always lose track of time when I'm there.

Debbie Burch
Barnes & Noble --- I like the layout of the store and I like shopping with them online. They also have very good customer service.

Rita Herbst
Barnes & Noble --- It is the closest to my home.

Tamara Randi
The Bookseller is my favorite store. It is small and intimate. One December, I was in the store shopping and I looked out the window and it was snowing. The store had a golden glow and there was a cat sitting in the window that looks out on to main street. There were enough people in the store to feel the buzz of the holidays. The store is in a smallish goldrush town in Northern California. It is one of my favorite memories.

Jamille Krupa
BarnesandNoble.com
They have everything, and bargain used books as well.

Suzanne Deal-Fitzgerald
I love Amazon. I live out in a rural part of the state, and the nearest "real" bookstore is nearly 40 miles away. I can look up a title anytime, find books like it, and really enjoy the convenience of shopping in my pajamas.

Coleen
Half Price Books
Their $1 clearance section is the best. I cannot go in there without buying several books, and I can do it without spending much at all!

Jackie Sowards
My favorite book store is at the Milton Flea Market. The ladies there have a trading center and I take every book I've read to them and get plenty back --- friendship, kindness, caring and books.

F Tessa Bartels
Harry W. Schwartz Book Shops in Milwaukee WI
I usually shop at the Mequon store, but our book club meets in the coffee shop at the Shorewood location. Their booksellers are all really well-versed in the various genres of literature. And, several of them have gotten to know me, so as soon as I walk in they greet me by name and give me advance notice of author events they're sure I'll enjoy.

Dia N.
Barnes and Noble
I love to browse their extensive selections of books and music!

Emily
Strand Bookstore in NYC. I love the selection, the great deals and the wonderful older books I find there.

Lyla D
The Book Bazaar, a used bookstore where the prices are good and there is a huge selection of books. It's in Lakeland, Florida and has been around for almost 30 years. Besides, I work there!

Margaret
i really like my local bookstore, Bound to Read. Local stores always seem to remember the importance of having people who truly love books work in their stores. I remember that they stayed open 2 extra minutes for me so I could pick up a book I had on hold.

Bob Coghill
Title Wave Books in Anchorage, Alaska

Bob Parker
Borders --- It is the 2nd closest (B&N is closer) store to me, and I have a 20% discount.

Well actually, I guess my favorite is BookCloseOuts.com. I have spent the most money there in the last 5 years. It's fun looking for deals. I forgot about them since they are online.

Of course, the Schaumburg Township Library gets most of my traffic (and a fair amount of late fees to help support it) --- http://www.stdl.org/

But I really do enjoy 'real' bookstores as well.

Barbara Dormer
Borders --- their discount card is free.

Anna Robinson
I like Borders Books because they have a wonderful selection and the people who work there are so pleasant and helpful.

Brenda Klaassen
Prairie Moon Books in Sheldon, Iowa. The people who run this bookstore help the community and they stretch the minds of readers. Their store is very friendly.
