I have been reading Donald Westlake off and on for a few years. He has a new book out called Money for Nothing. The premise is, someone receives $1,000 a month for 12 months. He has no idea who is sending this money to him, but he is glad to get it and really looks forward to the beginning of each month. I like Westlake for the interesting story lines, and he writes with a nice reading "tempo." I'm looking forward to reading this book this summer!

I'm looking forward to reading the book I received for my birthday recently --- Baudolino by Umberto Eco. I've read other books by Eco (The Name of the Rose and Foucault's Pendulum) and while they can be challenging reads, I find they are ultimately extremely rewarding. The character of Baudolino was described to me as a medieval Forrest Gump; I loved Forrest Gump and I am very interested in the Middle Ages, so this should be just the right thing.
After Baudolino I plan to do some longed-after reading in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre, more specifically something by Ursula LeGuin or Charles DeLint.

And I have thrown in A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby and our book group's choice of The Distant Land of My Father by Bo Caldwell.
