Love Story by Erich Segal It just brings back so many memories of my youth and college days--the title says it all!

Dr. Zhivago

"The Thorn Birds" by Coleen McCollough (sp?). The passage describing Father Ralph's discovery of Maggie on the island and their inevitable coming-together has to be one of the most romantic and erotic written passages I've ever come across. As for pure romantic tragedy, "Wuthering Heights" can't be beat.

Like Water For Chocolate, by Laura Esquival.

Summer's End - Danielle Steele
I will not wish thee riches, nor the glow of greatness, but that wherever thou go some weary heart shall gladden at thy smile, or shadowed life know sunshine for a while. And so thy path shall be a track of light, like angels' footsteps passing through the night. (words on a church wall in Upwaltham England) @--'--,-'-,>-->-----

The Notebook by Nickolas Sparks was a very romantic story. The ending is kind of sad and brought tears to my eyes. I have never been so moved by a book. It was well written and was really a page turner. The ending is sad, but the story was romantic and well worth reading.

Probably "Perfect" or "Paradise" both by Judith McNaught.

Oddly I think that of all the wonderful and terrible romantic novels Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera stands out most. Of course Anna Karenina is right up there. But I have to say Bridges of Madison County tops the list for me.

A Severe Mercy by Sheldon VanAuken (he was a colleague of C.S.Lewis)

Bridges of Madison County

There are two books that tie for the "most romantic" title, in my opinion: The Bridges of Madison County by Robert James Waller and Love In the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Rebellion by Nora Roberts (Part of the MacGregor Series)

RANSOM by JULIE GARWOOD

Most romantic book? Gone with the Wind wins hands down. I read it as a teenager when it first came out in the thirties. What could top that reading experience?

The most romantic book I have ever read is Bridges of Madison County. I know, I know, it made alot of people wanna barf, but it really spoke to me. I used to be a housewife, so I totally related to the female character, and I think photographing bridges for the National Geographic is a magical assignment. And I loved the movie too. Meryl Streep is my favorite actress, has been for years. Anyway, Bridges is my choice, and if my fiance gave me that book, I might die from the romance of such a gift.

Message in a Bottle - Nicholas Sparks

The most romantic book I've ever read is MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE. It covers the whole spectrum of past loves, new loves, never dying love, love of family. It will leave you breathless and with tears in your eyes many months later. I have recommended this book to everyone!! Nicholas Sparks, the author, can truly weave a romantic tale.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen for the classics. By Arrangement by Madeline Hunter for recent books.

The most romantic book I've ever read is actually a series of books. The first is The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. The love between Claire and Jamie leaves me breathless! The other books in the series are Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, and Drums of Autumn. Ms. Gabaldon is planning 2 more books in this series--I can't wait!

SHOGUN WAS BY FAR THE MOST ROMANTIC NOVEL FOR ME. BEING A MALE I'M NOT INTO
GUSHING ROMANCE TYPE BOOKS BUT CLAVELL CAPTURED THE ESSENCE OF ROMANCE AND
WOUND IT IN A STORY OF INTRIGUE AND SUSPENSE. AT FIRST LOOK YOU WOULD THINK
THE NOVEL IS ONE OF ADVENTURE BUT IT IS TRULY A ROMANCE, HOWEVER SO TRAGIC.

With all of the trials and tribulations that plagued Rhett and Scarlet, I still found Gone With The Wind romantic. But the one that has moved me the most so far is Bridges of Madison County. The turmoil and torment of the moment she has to decide whether to run out into the rain to the man she is in love with or stay in the truck with the man she has loved for so many years. Ohh, it made my heart ache!

"FROM HERE TO ETERNITY" by James Jones. OF COURSE, I WAS 15 WHEN I READ IT AND NEVER HAD READ ANYTHING LIKE IT IN MY SHORT, VIRGIN LIFE.! IT EXPERIENCED ME!

The most romantic book I've ever read is Gone With The Wind. I'm always struck by how Rhett feels about Scarlett. I wish a man would feel about that way about me. I've read a lot of romances, but Gone With The Wind will always be a cut above the rest for me.

Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks

The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher. A romantic book written about a romantic time in our recent history. Not romantic in the sense of man/woman romance alone. But romantic in terms of people rising to their best in the face of adversity. People fighting the "real" war the their own wars, large and small. The lead character is so warm and open and loving. I want to have an English cottage, grow flowers and serve tea (or wine) to whomever appears at my door!
