What did you think of THE DEVIL'S ELIXIR?

Well-written but scary as it was so brutal --- however, I suspect it was more true to life than I like to think.  Quite an insight into the drug "business"; also a psychological thriller as the motives of each character were examined.

Possibly.  I think this may have been a bit "raw" for me.

What did you think of THE DEVIL'S ELIXIR?

I thought it was a fast-moving thriller. It tended to be a pot-boiler, but only in the best way. There's very little nuance here and the characters are somewhat melodramatically drawn. That said, it's the perfect beach book for people who like this genre. I enjoyed it.

Would you ever read a future book by Raymond Khoury?

I would read a future book by Mr. Khoury, and am thinking about picking up of one of his earlier novels as well.

10.   As promised, I would like to share my thoughts on the last two questions.

I absolutely love the book, The Devil's Elixir.  It is definitely my type of genre.  Exciting topic with lots of intrigue.  Hard to put down.

I look forward to reading more of his books.  Once I find an author I like, I tend to read all of his/her books.  I am sure this will be the case with Mr. Khoury's books.

Thank you for choosing me to read The Devil's Elixir.  This has been a good way for me to experience a new author.  He is now on my list!!

11.  Have you previously read a book by Raymond Khoury?

Yes, I have read a previous book, The Last Templar.  I thought is was very good with a good plot, and a well told story.

What other authors do you usually read?

I read a variety of Non Fiction, and Fiction.  I do like thriller fiction best.  I read Dan Brown, and Ken Follett.   I also like SyFI books.

What did you think of THE DEVIL'S ELIXIR?

I thought is was a good plot, but there were portions that appeared to be words added to fill up space.  The text did not seem to have anything to do with the plot.  It was like he finished the book, but the publisher said it was too short, so he added portions to fill out the pages.  Now, maybe I am being too harsh.

Would you ever read a future book by Raymond Khoury?

Yes, I would.  His plots are interesting to me, and stretch my mind.

12. Have you previously read a book by Raymond Khoury?

No

What other authors do you usually read?

I’m a voracious reader with a preference for mysteries, autobiographies, memoirs, biographies, cookbooks, general fiction and history; truly eclectic tastes. Among my favorites in 2011 were:

The Housekeeper and the Professor, Joan Thomas’ Curiosity, I am Half Sick of Shadows, A Beautiful Blue Death, Stealing Mona Lisa, The Night Circus, and Rules of Civility. I’ve read all of Sharyn McCrumb’s books as well as Margaret Maron, Jacqueline Winspear, nearly all of Alexander McCall Smith who is so prolific, it’s hard to keep up; Nevada Barr, Martha Grimes, P D James, the list goes on…. I do write reviews for BookTrib.com

What did you think of THE DEVIL'S ELIXIR?

It’s a fast paced thriller with a nice blend of suspense and archeology. The characters, though not fully fleshed out, are engaging and I liked the fast pace. The setting was good and the blend of ancient history and evil modern drug lords worked well.

Would you ever read a future book by Raymond Khoury?

Yes, based on this reading I will likely read his other books and look forward to future novels.

Thank you for the opportunity to get to know an author whose work I had missed.
