Lots to Read This Summer!

We at FaithfulReader.com are happy to see the official arrival of summer. After the long winter most of us endured, nothing could be more welcome than longer periods of daylight, more sunshine and, of course, some terrific new books.

We know that parts of the country have been hard-hit with flooding and torrential rains, while others are experiencing drought. We watch the weather a whole new way since we started these websites, as we know that what is happening around the country impacts our readers. Know that if you are in one of these ravaged areas, our prayers are with you.

As you begin your summer preparations, we hope our newsletter will provide some inspiration for reading.

This month’s update kicks off with a special contest for A WORTHY PURSUIT, an enchanting new novel by beloved author Karen Witemeyer. As former headmistress of Sullivan’s Academy for Exceptional Youths, Charlotte Atherton will stop at nothing to protect her charges, especially a young girl named Lily. Charlotte once promised Lily’s mother that she would protect the girl from her wicked grandfather, a wealthy railroad investor. But when Stone Hammond --- the best tracker in Texas --- is hired by the evil man to find Lily, everything becomes even more complicated. Since Miss Atherton has proof that she is Lily’s legal guardian, Stone must decide who is the villain and who is the victim, all while attempting to win Charlotte’s heart. In celebration of the recent release of A WORTHY PURSUIT, we’re giving away a copy to 15 readers. Enter here by Thursday, July 16th at noon ET.

For June’s monthly contest, 15 readers will win a copy of HEARTS MADE WHOLE, the second Beacons of Hope book by Jody Hedlund, following LOVE UNEXPECTED. Set in 1865 Michigan, it introduces readers to Caroline Taylor, the keeper of the Windmill Point Lighthouse. Although Caroline has become very comfortable tending to the lighthouse following her father’s death, it is quite unusual for a woman in her time to hold such a position, and she fears she will soon be replaced. When Ryan Chambers returns from the Civil War, he takes her job, hoping the isolation will grant him some serenity. But the feisty Caroline is not ready to give up her job --- especially to someone so incapable. As the two compete for the position, they learn to look past their differences and toward a new future. Enter here by Thursday, July 16th at noon ET.

We have 10 reviews to share with you this month, including GET YOUR HOPES UP!: Expect Something Good to Happen to You Every Day, in which Joyce Meyer helps readers achieve a lasting sense of hope, built on their faith in God; TAKEN by Dee Henderson, a thrilling tale of abduction and crime featuring an investigator who knows tragic loss firsthand, and his new client who is missing far too long; and UNAFRAID: Trusting God in an Unsafe World, an insightful guide to trusting God from Susie Davis, who offers her hard-won insights about how we can trust God in the midst of our fears about violence, disease and personal tragedy.

Here’s to a wonderful start to your summer! We’ll see you in July with more books to add your summer reading list!
