Sleepwalker

Micayla Lange, fondly known as Mick, has already endured the biggest tragedy anyone could imagine when she witnessed the brutal slaying of her mother when she was just a child. In spite of the trauma, she has managed to put the pieces of her life back together and forge a career in law enforcement with the Detroit Police Department.

"SLEEPWALKER introduces Karen Robards's fans to an all-new cast of characters, each so unique and compelling that readers will find it difficult to avoid turning the page to see what they do next."

Unfortunately, she has just found out that her lover, homicide investigator Nick Horacki, is a no-good, lying cheater. Rather than spending the splendid New Year's Eve that she had planned with him, she is now house sitting for the father of her closest friend. In spite of the rumors that have always swirled around her "Uncle" Nicco Martino, Mick has a fondness for him and has never believed that he's connected to the criminal underworld. Uncle Nicco has always been good to her, and that's all she needs to know.

When Mick awakens from a sleepwalking episode to find a pair of burglars in the house, she doesn't hesitate to spring into action, even though she's wearing only pajama pants, a tank top and flip-flops. Unfortunately, all of her police training and experience isn't enough to prevent her from being taken hostage by the most magnetic outlaw she has ever encountered. Jason Davis knew that when he chose thievery as a career, there would be some risks involved. But encountering a braless, pigtailed policewoman who makes his blood pump through his veins at an alarming rate wasn't one he had counted on. Between trying to subdue Officer Hottie and keep his partner-in-crime in check, Jason has his hands full.

Just when it seems things can't get any worse, the security crew that protects Uncle Nicco's home closes in on the trio of two lawbreakers and one law enforcer. Jason can't explain Mick's sudden change of heart when she stops trying to capture him and suddenly becomes his willing hostage. All he knows is that his life and his freedom are in her hands if he wants to get out of this sticky situation alive.

Mick is just as surprised as Jason is. Certainly she had never expected to find herself on the wrong side of the very law she was sworn to uphold. Unfortunately, evidence that implicates her uncle in the death of a local city councilman leaves no doubt in her mind as to his guilt. Rather than risk being rubbed out to keep her from talking, Mick takes her chances with the thief who makes her weak in the knees. Even if she manages to get out of this mess alive, it's a sure bet that Jason will steal her heart.

SLEEPWALKER introduces Karen Robards's fans to an all-new cast of characters, each so unique and compelling that readers will find it difficult to avoid turning the page to see what they do next. Mick is so full of energy, confidence and determination that it's impossible not to admire her. Jason is equally engaging as his small acts of kindness toward Mick reveal a side of him that proves him to be much more than a common criminal. Together the pair's passions ignite even as their lives hang in the balance.
