What is your reading resolution for 2002?

[email protected]
My reading resolution is to explore new genres outside that of Science Fiction and Fantasy.

To read a book at least every two weeks.

My reading resolution is to read "Lord of the Rings" books.

I have made the following resolution for nearly 10 years...it's one that I've never broken..."I will read books by authors I've never read before."  Because of Book Reporter and Bookacinno, I've easily been able to keep it with all of the good recommends that are made!!!

I hope to find a paperback written by an author as talented as Sidney Sheldon.
Know one?  Thank you.

My New Year's book resolution? Last year I read 135 books. This year I want to read LESS books MORE carefully.

[email protected]
This year, I'm resolving to read more nonfiction books in areas I am not so familiar with and more biographies --- enlarge my horizons and, I hope, expand my knowledge.

With the $50.00 BandN gift certificate (sorry, Amazon.com) I received from my caring daughter I plan to purchase the rest of the wonderfully-written books (in softcover) by David McCullough.  My other daughter gave me The Johnstown Flood, a detailed account of that disaster and the role the tycoons of Pittsburgh (Carnegie, Frick and Mellon) had in causing it.  I read it years ago, along with The Great Bridge, a fascinating report on the design and building of the Brooklyn Bridge, but do not have copies of my own.  They are both worth re-reading.  Also want to get Mornings on Horseback about Teddy Roosevelt's early years.  McCullough is an exceptional writer with a wonderful ability to make history truly come alive.

My resolution this year is to be able to take time out from my busy day, relax and read. Having completed a masters in special education and raising two children has left me with little time to read. This year reading is my goal.

My reading resolution for 2002 is to read at least 2 - 3 books per month.  I recently read a Dean Koontz book and promised myself that I would read "every" book that was ever written by this brilliant author.  Finally, I would love to join a literacy program to teach others how to read.

A dear friend of mine sent me a beautiful Journal for Christmas.  My resolution is to write a Book Journal of what I read in 2002, my opinions of the writer, who were my favorite characters.  We are going to share our journals with each other the entire year.

My reading resolution for 2002 is just to read more!

[email protected]
To read 52 books in 2002

I have two reading resolutions for 2002:
1. Read at least 35 books;
2. Read at least 5 classics I haven't read before.

My Reading Resolution is to read more of my own country's authors. I live in Australia and I am sometimes ashamed to admit that I have never read anything from the likes of  Thomas Keneally, Peter Carey and I want to read more from Tim Winton. So I hope to have an Aussie Author filled 2002!!!

I pledge to read an average of a book a week with a ratio of 75% to 25% fiction to nonfiction.

To read much more nonfiction this year.  Getting sick of fiction for now.

If I can't find time to read, I listen to a book....

I would like to read books that are going to help me learn about other experiences I have had. For instance, I purchased the book Eleni by Nicholas Gage to learn more about a mother's experience of civil wars in Greece as I lived in Greece for one year. Recently, I saw the OmniMax movie "Shackleton's Antarctica" and purchased a book that detailed the voyage. Currently, I am reading "The Hobbit" by Tolkien as I saw the "Lord of the Rings" movie. I would like to read the entire series. Another resolution, which may be for 2003, is to obtain lists of people's "classic books" and become well read in classics. I purchased (at a library sale) "Pride and Prejudice" which I read long ago but would like to re-read with a more mature state of mind.

I enjoy the bookreporter.com emails because they keep these goals in mind and also inform me of what others are reading for fresh ideas.

To read more... a minimum of an hour a day and turn off the TV.

I thought your New Year's resolution was good... my resolution is similar, and I read a lot more books now that I commute on a train.

[email protected]
My New Year's reading resolution is to read at least one classic per month (I read about 10 books a month).

[email protected]
My reading resolution is to read one book a month that is at least 10 years old, a classic and one from an author I have not read before.  Also to increase the number of books I read a month by at least 2.

[email protected]
I intend to finish all the books that I have started!   I start reading one, then purchase something new and start reading it, putting aside my previous book.  I have a lot of unfinished books laying around the house.

[email protected]
To turn off the TV and read, read, read. Except Jeopardy.

[email protected]
I plan on reading more of the classics.  I just read "To Kill A Mockingbird" with my daughters' English class and enjoyed it very much.  Can't wait to see what her next reading assignment brings.

I am not a religious person but in 2002 I resolve to read the Bible.

[email protected]
Mine is to find new ways in which to actually be able to read and be comfortable doing it. I have a chronic back disease that makes it almost impossible to sit and read very long.

[email protected]
My 2002 Resolution is to read one book a month and not to buy any more books until I have read the ones I have already bought.

[email protected]
My reading resolution is to be more selective in what I put on reserve at the library. When too many books arrive at the same time and I have a limited time in which to read them, I put myself under unnecessary stress. I'm a fast reader, but I find I enjoy a good book a lot more if I slow down and savor every word.

To read 12 books this year with at least one of them a new genre.
