To celebrate Native American Heritage Month AuthorsOnTheWeb.com, a website from The Book Report Network, assembled a roundtable discussion featuring 10 acclaimed writers who have Native American backgrounds and/or write about Native American culture. Margaret Coel, Kathleen O'Neal Gear, W. Michael Gear, Joseph Marshall III, David Matheson, Thomas Perry, Penina Keen Spinka, Aimee Thurlo, David Thurlo and David Marion Wilkinson reveal how writing about the Native American culture has affected their lives, discuss how they conduct research and address Native American stereotypes.

Horror Author Roundtable
From vampire and werewolf tales to thrillers to true accounts of supernatural contact, horror is a vast genre that gets people talking --- and reading. Setting the atmosphere for Halloween, AuthorsOnTheWeb brought together seven spine-tingling masters to discuss their personal definitions of horror, share their opinions about the "horror writer" label, and reveal their first attempts at writing in the genre. Participants include Suzy McKee Charnas, Geoffrey Huntington, Gregory Maguire, Michael Norman, Fred Saberhagen, F. Paul Wilson, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.



Historical Fiction Author Roundtable
AuthorsOnTheWeb.com brought together 8 popular historical novelists to discuss their selection of the historical time periods they write about, how they conduct historical research, and the difficulties of creating fiction while respecting the limits of historical facts. The participants include Kevin Baker, Megan Chance, Bernard Cornwell, Karen Essex, Margaret George, Glen David Gold, Tayari Jones, and Matthew Kneale.

AuthorsOnTheWeb.com assembled a roundtable discussion featuring 5 up-and-coming nonfiction writers who discuss the writing process, research practices, publishing/marketing support for debut authors, and their responses to first-time reviews from readers and critics. The participants include Mona Golabek, Maria Rosa Menocal, Tony Perrottet, Lynn Schooler, and Emma Sweeney.

Books That Changed After 9/11
The events of September 11, 2001, devastated the entire nation. One year later, AuthorsOnTheWeb has assembled a group of seven authors who revised their 2001 books-in-progress because of the terrorist attacks. Jennifer Blake, William Carman, Bruce Feiler, Jim Fusilli, Philip Jolowicz, Earl Merkel, and Lori Woolridge share where they were on September 11th, why they decided to make changes in their books, and the emotions they experienced while writing during this dark period. The writers also voice their opinions about the September 11th books being published in anticipation of the anniversary.

Fiction Debut Author Roundtable
AuthorsOnTheWeb has assembled a roundtable featuring a diverse group of 17 up-and-coming fiction writers who discuss the writing process, publishing/marketing support for debut authors, and their responses to first-time reviews from readers and critics.

While many of the guests are first-time published authors, some participants have recently made their debut on the American publishing scene after being published overseas. Others have written short stories or poetry and are now debut novelists. The participants are Steve Almond, David Benioff, Jill Bialosky, Terrence Cheng, Jill A. Davis, Stella Pope Duarte, Anahita Firouz, Ad Hudler, Masha Hamilton, Kate Manning, Jay Nussbaum, Arthur Phillips, Michael Redhill, David Rosenfelt, Gary Shteyngart, Karen V. Siplin, and Ali Smith.

Poet Roundtable
AuthorsOnTheWeb brought together 16 poets to discover why poetic expression is so appealing to them and how they would respond to those who find poetry more than a little intimidating. The participants in the Poetry Roundtable included Mary Jo Bang, Billy Collins, Cornelius Eady, Jeffrey Greene, Richard Matthews, Honor Moore, Marge Piercy and Marc Woodworth who write for adult audiences as well as Betsy Franco, Robin Hirsch, Mary Ann Hoberman, Paul B.
