Wrecked a Regan Reilly Mystery

Eager to relive the bliss that enveloped them on their wedding
day, Regan and Jack Reilly head to Cape Cod for a romantic getaway
to celebrate their one-year anniversary. Anticipating being alone
in the midst of a raging storm that only makes their getaway all
the more cozy, the couple settle in for a weekend to be remembered.
While it may not be what they planned, memorable it certainly will
be.

When Jack returns from a quick trip to the local store for
supplies, he is accompanied by the elderly and gossipy Brewer
sisters, Fran and Ginny, who live three houses down the street from
Jack's parents' house where the Reillys are staying. The nosy
siblings are in a state because a large branch has crashed through
their window creating an instant breezeway, and a watery one at
that. When they take up residence with Jack and Regan, the couple
begins to wish they had chosen the only other place they considered
for their getaway: Bermuda.

Just as the Brewers wind up for a good long gossip, Skip, the
caretaker, turns up and breathlessly announces the discovery of
Adele Hopkins, another neighbor in need. As Skip was out checking
for property damage, he found Adele sprawled on the beach at the
bottom of her stairs, bloodied and unconscious. He isn't even sure
if she’s alive but knows he needs help. Not a couple to turn
their backs on anyone in trouble, Jack and Regan immediately
respond to the call for help and prepare to assist Skip as needed.
Unfortunately, the injured woman is no longer on the beach when
they rush to her aid --- she's been washed out to sea!

As they try to locate Adele's next of kin to inform them of the
situation, it becomes apparent that Adele was a woman who valued
her privacy. No one seems to know who she was or even where she
came from. Once inside her rental home, they find an amazing array
of greeting cards, all with apologies inside and a large quantity
of embroidered pillows that say GRUDGE ME, GRUDGE ME NOT purchased
from a local shop, Pillow Talk. What could she have done to such a
large number of people to need their forgiveness? Only Adele knows,
and she's not around to explain.

It isn't long before the celebratory anniversary weekend takes a
backseat, and Regan and Jack intensify their investigation to find
out exactly who the secretive Adele really is, what she was doing
in Cape Cod, and where, oh where, she is now.

WRECKED is a good mystery to read on a rainy, blustery spring
day. Readers barely have time to recover from one revelation when
another leaps forward, grabs their attention and drives the story
forward. It's nice to catch up with Jack and Regan, and their
family and friends. Carol Higgins Clark’s latest entry in her
bestselling series is enough to make anyone want to head out for a
quiet getaway in Cape Cod. But, for goodness sake, stay inside
while the rain falls and the winds blow lest you should end up like
Adele Hopkins.
