His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled

Jesus the Christ and Jesus the man; God and Son of God; part of the Trinity. The promised Savior born in a lowly manger to an unwed mother. The King of Kings working as a carpenter until his 30th year. God’s Son as a servant, willing to die a criminal’s death upon the cross so that people could be saved from spiritual death.

Millions have pondered these ironies over the past 2,000 years. Some, by faith, refused to see them as contradictions and entered into a relationship with the Savior that now abides in them in the form of the Holy Spirit. Others, unable or unwilling to grasp the unseen, continue to doubt and to question.

Whether you are a skeptic, a seeker or a believer, HIS NAME IS JESUS is sure to meet you where you are. From a historical perspective, the book fills in so many interesting and little known details about the culture and the characters who were contemporaries of this man from Nazareth. Max Lucado clearly presents the story that many have accepted as the gospel. His own love for God comes through as he writes about how much God loves and cares for His people. “God lives to hear your heartbeat. He loves to hear your prayers. He’d die for your sin before He’d let you die in your sin; so He did.”

In a timeline approach and contemporary style, Lucado carries the reader from the birth of Jesus, through His everyday life, the beginnings of His ministry and His mission that led to the cross. But he doesn’t stop there. We continue to the burial, the heavy stone that was placed in front of the entrance and the glorious discovery that the stone had been rolled away and Jesus had arisen from the dead. “We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word.”

HIS NAME IS JESUS will surely win Lucado even more readers, but more importantly, it will introduce people to the real person of Jesus.
