Lockhart has demonstrated once again that she is the master of crafting a compelling mystery. Like WE WERE LIARS, GENUINE FRAUD is a short novel, but it accomplishes exactly what it needs to.

This novel constantly kept me guessing and wondering about what would happen next; it was practically impossible to put it down. The fight scenes are reminiscent of an action movie and that comparison fits the novel well, as Jule considers herself to be the star of her own action movie of sorts. Lockhart’s descriptions are clean and do a fantastic job of giving information to reader but hiding just enough to leave you surprised.

My sole complaint about GENUINE FRAUD would be that due to the way it is told, the novel can get a bit difficult to follow at certain points. Overall, I found GENUINE FRAUD to be wonderfully unique in the ever-expanding world of young adult fiction and it is a book that I would recommend to all types of readers.

GENUINE FRAUD is perfect for fans of mystery and suspense, and for anyone who enjoyed WE WERE LIARS. However, it also can appeal to any reader who is in the mood for a fantastic mystery novel that leaves you wanting more. Fans of action will also appreciate GENUINE FRAUD as there are plenty of fight and chase scenes to keep them interested. In addition, if you’re looking for a great read to cure a book slump, this one’s for you.
