Born to Die

Dr. Acacia "Kacey" Lambert is happy living in the small Montana town of Grizzly Falls and working at a local medical clinic where she treats patients with a variety of ills. After a stint in Seattle, Washington, Grizzly Falls feels like home again. The 100-year-old farmhouse that belonged to her grandparents is hers now, and she finds the sense of belonging soothing after a painful divorce from her ex-husband, an arrogant doctor who struggled with an inability to keep his pants zipped.

"...her latest is action-packed and tugs at the readers' heartstrings as they root for the good guys to win."

When a B-list actress named Shelly Bonaventure dies from suicide, Kacey doesn't take much notice in spite of the fact that the two were strikingly similar in appearance, born in the same area and right around the same age. Why should she give it a second thought when there are patients to see and business to take care of?

It's a bit harder for Kacey to ignore the death of a second young woman, Jocelyn Wallis, who could be a twin or close sibling to herself and to Shelly. Once again, the dead young woman, a talented elementary school teacher who took an accidental dive off of an icy precipice while jogging, is from the area and close in age to Shelly and Kacey.

What is even stranger, too-hot-to-handle rancher and ex-Army Ranger Trace O'Halleran knew all three women. Coincidences aside, Kacey can't help being attracted to Trace, who brings his son Eli into the clinic with a fractured arm and an ear infection. The chemistry between the pair is instantaneous, even though neither acts on it immediately. Trace is gun-shy when it comes to women after his ex walked out and left him and Eli high and dry.

As if two dead women who were almost twins to Kacey weren't enough, a third is enough to shake her to her core and clarify the fact that something strange is going on here. With few clues and little to go on, however, Kacey has no idea where to begin looking for the culprit.

Fortunately, it's not up to Kacey to track down the murderer who is wreaking havoc in Grizzly Falls. Detectives and partners Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli are putting together the pieces of this grizzly puzzle in a way that leaves little room for doubt that these "coincidences" were anything but. In the midst of the madness and mayhem, Kacey finds herself growing more and more attracted to Trace, who seems as solid and steady as a man can be. With an air of suspicion cast over him through his connection with the dead women, though, can Kacey trust her heart to him, much less her life?

BORN TO DIE is the third in Lisa Jackson's To Die series, set in Montana. Like the first two installments, LEFT TO DIE and CHOSEN TO DIE, her latest is action-packed and tugs at the readers' heartstrings as they root for the good guys to win. Fans will enjoy trying to unravel the mystery as they read along and pray for Kacey and Trace to find happiness and safety in each others' arms.
