Books to Fall in Love With 2019

Congratulations to the five winners of our Valentine's Day contest! These readers received a copy of each of our seven featured books and some delicious chocolate. Those who entered had the option of responding to the question “Who is your all-time literary crush?” which many of you answered, much to our delight. We had so much fun compiling your top 10 “Literary Loves and Lusts,” which you can see below.

End-of-the-Year Contest 2018

Congratulations to the winners of our 2018 End-of-the-Year Contest! One Grand Prize winner received all 45 of Carol Fitzgerald's Bookreporter.com Bets On picks from 2018, while nine others won a selection of five of these titles. You can see all the winners below, along with 2018's Bets On books.

Winter Reading 2018

At Bookreporter.com, we kicked off 2018 with our fourth annual Winter Reading Contests and Feature. We hosted a series of 24-hour contests spotlighting a book releasing this winter (or a book publishing in the spring that we wanted to get on your radar now) and gave five lucky readers a chance to win it.

Even though our contests have wrapped up, we encourage you to take a look at this year's featured titles, as these are the books you'll want to read during the winter months --- and into the warmer ones!

Tayari Jones, author of An American Marriage

Newlyweds Celestial and Roy are the embodiment of both the American Dream and the New South. He is a young executive, and she is an artist on the brink of an exciting career. But as they settle into the routine of their life together, they are ripped apart by circumstances neither could have imagined. Roy is arrested and sentenced to 12 years for a crime Celestial knows he didn’t commit. Though fiercely independent, Celestial finds herself bereft and unmoored, taking comfort in Andre, her childhood friend and best man at their wedding.

An American Marriage by Tayari Jones

February 2018

I loved Tayari Jones’ 2011 book, SILVER SPARROW, which was a Bookreporter.com Bets On selection, and I have been looking forward to seeing what she would write next. Patiently. It’s been seven years, something she is all too aware of! When I opened my advance copy of AN AMERICAN MARRIAGE, I was reminded again why I love her work. She captures people and emotions so well. Her characters get messy, get confused, get undone, and then put themselves back together again.

Week of February 4, 2019
