The time has finally come. We’re in the final stretch of summer, and we can see fall fashion just around the street corner. For those of us in the NYC area, we got a glimpse of that cool fall breeze the other night, and it was the first time in as long as we can remember that we were able to sleep with the windows open. Needless to say, it was a damn delight, and it got us dreaming about leather jackets and Halloween candy (in our opinion, it’s never too early for good ol’ All Hallows’ Eve). Pair it with all the back-to-school gear we’ve been spotting in the local stores, and we’re in full autumn swing.

Yesterday may have been National Relaxation Day, but it’s clear that some of our favorite celebrities (and athletes) have been doing anything but. Last we spoke, we were just gearing up for the quadrennial games, but now that we’re in the thick of it, we’ve got Rio fever. And we don’t mean the kind that Jenn Suhr caught from the local swamps. Our new favorite gymnast, who casually happens to be the best in the world, Simone Biles, has been killing it all over the Olympic™ floor. We’re all about her sass and sportsmanship. Superstars Allyson Felix and Usain Bolt are unstoppable (probably literally), and part-man, part-sea creature Michael Phelps basically has enough gold to fill a pirate’s chest. Not to mention our girls, Katie Ledecky, who is well on her way to becoming an all-time, top-decorated medalist, and Simone Manuel, the first African American woman to win an individual Olympic gold in swimming.

Fact: August is bittersweet. Even though it’s still *technically* summer, we can’t help but notice that it’s more than halfway over. So we’re trying to make the most of it, despite the mind-numbing, crippling heat wave we’ve been dealing with in NYC. The silver lining is that we’re becoming real AC experts, and we’ll have the perfect reasons to stay indoors this Friday, when the Olympics and Suicide Squad grace screens big and small. We’re so pumped that the most anticipated entertainment events of the season are finally here that we find ourselves not only tolerating Katy Perry’s Olympics anthem “Rise,” but even listening to it in our off-hours. Anticipation and competitive sports make us do the craziest things!
