HIDDEN PASSIONS: Secrets From the Diaries of Tabitha
Lenox
by Tabitha Lenox, 4 stars
This book is a hoot. Following in the footsteps of the
soap opera titled Passions, it goes more in depth about
what is seen on the small screen. The book, as well as
the soap needs to be taken lightly, with more than JUST
a grain of salt ( the whole salt shaker is appropriate).
It's tongue in check, playful and dramatic but with a
humorous/horror twist. What fun. I refer to it as my guilty
pleasure and the book is no different. In fact, it's better
because it's description of the surroundings and people
is very rich.

owns an online company called Lost and Found. They track

surprises in regards to the Art World and their relationship.
THE PROGRAM
by Stephen White, 5 stars
When New Orleans District Attorney Kirsten Lord is threatened
by one of the criminals she is sending to prison she is
forced into the Witness Protection program called WitSec
with her young daughter. The problem is that as District
Attorney she has publically criticized the WitSec program
in a very negative way, the very program she is now in
. A great read.

THE PILOT'S WIFE
by Anita Shreve, no rating given
An emotional journey about a wife who loses her husband,
a pilot, by plane crash and then has to face new things
she finds out about him, including the fact that he may
have commited suicide taking all the passengers with him.
Very touching and enjoyable to read.
A WALK TO REMEMBER
by Nicholas Sparks, no rating given
A heart touching story about love and growing up. I had
tears in my eyes a couple of times throughout the book,
which doesn't happen often. When I completed the book
I sighed and held it to my chest (seriously).

BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON
by Helen Fielding, 4.5 stars
Fielding truly met my expectations with this sequel to
BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY. The book was absolutely hysterical
in the same fashion as the first novel about a woman obsessed
with her weight who wAnders through the single scene looking
for Mr. Right. Fielding helps us laugh at the body conscious,
marriage-obsessed, alcohol-abusing world to which many
young single women inhabit. This book is truly a guilty
pleasure and is an easy and quick read.
THE HANDMAID'S TALE
by Margaret Atwood, 5 stars
Told from the voice of a young woman whose rights, properties
and family are taken away, Atwood shows us a fictional
world based upon actual events in history. The main character
of the novel is forced to choose between forced labor
cleaning up nuclear waste or serving as a handmaid, a
woman who must become pregnant and bare a child for a
barren couple. Atwood's world where most women have little
power is frightening, but shows us how easily we can slide
into that world. An extremely well written and suspenseful
satire.

1ST TO DIE
by James Patterson, 5 stars
This book is quick reading, suspenseful, and very enjoyable.
It takes place in San Francisco, and the author does a
masterful job developing the main chartacters, and intertwining
the lives of those he has created. A series of wedding
day murders has the whole city up in arms, and solving
the crimes is in true James Patterson form. I can't wait
to read the next book in this series.

SINS OF THE FATHERS
by Susan Howatch, 5 stars
The only thing better than a really good book....is one
you can read twice and enjoy more the second time. This
book came to me in a bag of "passalong books". I read
everything she wrote many years ago....Loved "The Rich
are Different" and thought it was a wonderful title. However,
SINS OF THE FATHERS is written in a fashion where the
story of one family is told through the eyes of different
members, of different generations. It has a strong theme
running through to hold it together. I read it as if I
had never seen one of her books, as a gem of discovery.

All "Maggody" books
by Joan Hess, 5 stars
They follow the female sheriff of a small Arkansas town
and the citizens. Each book has many chuckles. The sheriff's
mother and her best friend drive Arly crazy. They are
always up to something. This is a quirky town with many
oddball characters. If you like light mystery these books
are just right. I look forward to each new book that comes
out. It is better if you can read them in order as there
is some continuity to the plots.

ABANDON INDIANA
by Amy Hensley, 5 stars
An excellent debut! The residents of Abandon, Indiana
are truly characters. The author tells a twisted tale
of how these people deal with life's circumstances in
often bizarre ways. The reader cheers on the main character,
Reece, on her quest to abandon Indiana.
