Loved this book....surprise ending and great details about Amish life.

mnmari@mn.rr.com
FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE by Dean Koontz, 5 stars
One of his best, I think. Bet it'll be made into a movie.

THE PILOT'S WIFE by Anita Shreve, 4 stars
Riveting description of the most painful of human emotions, grief, loss, betrayal and jealousy. Asks that painful question...How well do you know your mate? Great book club discussions.

LKellett@aol.com
PLAIN TRUTH by Jodi Picoult, 5 stars
Excellent read about a murder among the Amish.

HEARSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR by Tim Cockey, 5 stars
Sequel to THE HEARSE YOU CAME IN ON.

SPINDLE'S END by Robin McKinley, 4 stars

Much awaited and lovers of the King will feel right at home.

AMERICAN PSYCHO by Bret Easton Ellis, 5 Stars
(Not for the squeamish)

BAGOMBO SNUFFBOX by Kurt Vonnegut 4 Stars
SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION by Ken Kesey 5 Stars

Lucky4750@aol.com
COMMITMENTS by Barbara Delinsky 5 stars
Another great romance story that will entertain you and keep you in suspense throughout the entire read. Nobody does it better than Delinsky.

THE STANISLASKI SISTERS by Nora Roberts, 5 stars
I love everything Roberts writes. She captivates and brings you right into every one of her stories. This one is another great write by Roberts. Read it.

barb25978@aol.com
THE GOLD COAST by Nelson DeMille, no rating given
It brings you to the East Coast where mobsters and rich live in the same community but the sex, violence and intrigue will keep you turning pages.

EDGE OF DANGER by Jack Higgins, no rating given
Higgins brings back his crew of Dillion, Hannah Bernstein and General Ferguson to try and out guess a ruthless and revenge. Another great book by Jack Higgins.

MAXX01@peoplepc.com
EVAN HELP US by Rhys Bowen, 5 stars
The story takes place in Wales and Evan Evans is the constable of a small town called Llanfair. The village of Llanfair has always been at odds with the neighboring town of Beddgelert but with an archaeological find nearby in the hills of Llanfair the rivalry is taken to extremes and death. The first book by Ms Bowen in this series is EVANS ABOVE. She writes very much like M.C. Beaton and her stories regarding Evan Evans has charm as well as a sense of humor. You will find yourself smiling at Evan just as you do with Hamish McBeth and Agatha Raisin. If you are an M.C. Beaton fan or you just want a light, fun read, you will love Ms Bowen's books at first read and all three of her books in this series will capture your heart!

HOUSE OF MIRTH by Edith Wharton, 5 stars
It is amazing how much enjoyment can be gleaned from a book written almost a century ago. But, I guess that is why they are called "classics"! The "lifestyle of the rich and famous" characterized by Lily Bart reinforces that women need to believe in themselves as other than mere ornaments.

I KNOW THIS MUCH IS TRUE by Wally Lamb, 4 stars
This almost endless book has many strong points that make for an interesting read. The author has successfully captured the troubled voice of the schizophrenic and the frustrations of family members as they try to manage everyday life throughout the years. The book would have been better at half the length. And, the ending is too tidy in its ending.

NEPR@aol.com
LOSING JULIA by Jonathan Hull, 5 Stars.
I read it on the recommendation of the bookreporter. It's as good as everyone said. I especially liked Patrick's insight about love that he shared with the young man on the plane.

HSuss89012@aol.com
1ST TO DIE by James Patterson, 5 stars
All I can say is: move over Alex Cross!!!!

EDGE OF DANGER by Jack Higgins, 3 stars
In this writer's opinion, the use of the same characters is becoming both redundant and boring. The introduction of an Arabian/English family as protagonists doesn't help.

BIRDS OF PREY by JA Jance, 5 stars
Welcome back JP Beaumont, I have missed you!! This book will keep you up all night.

MAESTRO by Bob Woodward, 5 stars
I am prejudiced in that I love the way he writes for the average reader. He is, as always, informative and educational. When you consider that Alan Greenspan's 1/2 basis point cut was not enough to satisfy Wall St, and the reaction of the markets to it was generally negative, this book is a MUST READ.

TLIP55@aol.com
CIVIC BEAUTIES by C. D. Payne, 5 stars
Hilarious and so well written. By the author of YOUTH IN REVOLT: the Journals of Nick Twisp. Loved both of these books.

CHOCOLAT Joanne Harris, 2 stars
This book is very well written and the descriptions of the confections and decorations are great; but I did not care for any of the characters. They (even the main character) seemed unbelievably mean and nasty spirited. It was a juvenile power struggle of one "group" against another. A waste of time.

SORTOFAWRITER@aol.com
STALKER by Faye Kellerman, 4 Stars
Enjoyable, easy read.

MichelleM819@aol.com
THE BODYGUARD'S ASSIGNMENT by Amanda Stevens, 4 stars
I started this book out of sheer desperation for something - anything - to read. Turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Harlequin Texas Confidential series book about an undercover reporter who witnesses a drug mob killing. She then unwillingly ends up in the protective custody of the former lover she betrayed for a story. Lots of action for a romance novel. Quick read.

ONE FOR THE MONEY thru HOT SIX by Janet Evanovich, 5 stars
The Stephanie Plum novels. These are the most outrageous and funny mysteries I have ever read. I devoured them like they were Hershey bars. If you enjoy mysteries but don't need the "dark" overtones, read this series. You will be in for such a treat!

THE FIRST COUNSEL by Brad Metzger, 5 stars
An excellent, thoroughly engrossing book. I read it in two very looooong sittings.

THE LAST PRECINCT by Patricia Cornwell 5 stars
This was by far the best Kay Scarpetta novel in several years. Full of depth and revelations about Scarpetta and Pete Marino (rememeber his son? the one he hates? guess why?).

REVENGE OF THE COOTIE GIRLS by Sparkle Hayter, 3 stars
The author tries for funny and bawdy and ends up sounding cheap and disgusting. Skip this series and go for Janet Evanovich instead. You will get so many more real laughs instead of cheap thrills.

ZakasNana@aol.com
J IS FOR JUDGMENT by Sue Grafton, 5 stars
Another in the series featuring Kinsey Milhone. This one was so good I read it in one sitting.

THE PROGRAM by Stephen White, 5 stars
A real page turner! One of the best thrillers ever.

A DARKNESS MORE THAN NIGHT by Michael Connelly, 5 stars
Another great thriller.

ICED by Jenny Siler, 4 Stars
This book is the most aptly titled work I have ever read. Because of the graphic discription of a body being taken out of an ice covered river? No. Because of the graphic discription of a slashed corpse found in the snow in a trailer park? No. Simply because Jenny Siler can describe a Montana winter so well, that you certainly don't want to be there. I have lived in Montana and I know exactly what she is talking about. Every other page it seems has a degree by degree commentary on the biting cold. This is woven so well into the story that for me the cold became one of the characters. The plot and the character development are average, however the way she can convey the cold will make you put on your scarf even if you are reading at the beach in July in San Diego. This summer if you lose power in California and the air conditioning goes out, never fear, just curl up with this book, and you will cool right down.

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN by J. K. Rowling, no rating given
This book is enchanting and feels like you're with Harry every step of the way.
