Things to Know About the NEW Bookreporter.com

So besides an updated new look, what else has changed on Bookreporter.com? As a start there is a complete new functionality on the backend. Our goal: to give you many ways to discover books and authors.

1) The relaunch of Bookreporter.com is the start of a plan to update all the sites in TheBookReportNetwork.com. Reviews and author information will be shared among all the sites, as appropriate, thus we can “shelve” our book and author information in a way that can present books to the audiences that they appeal to. As an example, adults can view Young Adult titles; teens will be able to see adult books that may be of interest to them.

2) Our bold new graphic area --- the barker --- on the homepage gives us the opportunity to draw attention to six features each week, including our signature features like Author Spotlights and Bets On, among others. And our reviews are more readily accessible.

3) We have a new “This Week…” features page which gives us a way to highlight the special features offered that week. This is set up like a magazine Table of Contents, which brings me back to my magazine days. And there are ways to get to specific features quickly from the top nav and from the “This Week…” page.

4) Scrolling bars highlighting features appear on the bottom of the homepage as well as at the top of the “This Week…” page.

5) Our search functionality has been enhanced and now you can search for books by title, author, genre and date of publication. As well as search for authors in more in depth ways.

6) All content is able to be emailed, shared and printed with great ease from both the top and bottom of each piece allowing you to easily pass along articles and reviews of interest to you.

7) We will continue to feature buylinks for IndieBound and Amazon --- and have added Barnes & Noble. These days we want to offer options for whatever way readers would like to purchase books. And ways to “Shop with TBRN” on any of these sites are available on almost every page. And we appreciate when you use those links as we see a tiny sliver of revenue from your purchases.

8) Our Bookreporter.com “On Sale This Week” newsletters that launched in March have been enhanced --- they now are available online and via email --- and now link each title to a book page where you have easy buylinks available for pre-order or purchase.

9) Our Coming Soon feature has changed as well, again linking to book pages for pre-order or purchase.

10) These newsletters will be expanded to cover e-Shorts, e-Book Originals and Enhanced e-Books giving us the chance to spotlight these new editions available to you.

11) We will spotlight New in Paperback books by week, as well as month and again each will have a descriptive page about it and easy links to purchase.

12) Books On Screen has been expanded to not only include movies in theatres and on DVD, but also to talk about programming on cable and network television that is based on books.

13) For those trying to find their favorite features we have a guide to the New Bookreporter.com here: http://www2.bookreporter.com/find-your-favorite-bookreportercom-features

Please note that as always, launches mean that no matter how much testing you have done, there still can be things that fall through the cracks. Thus, we have a link available where folks can report things that are not working, which can be found here: http://www2.bookreporter.com/content/found-a-broken-link-or-something-not-working

I look forward to hearing from you once you have had time to explore the NEW Bookreporter.com.
