Have you previously read a book by David Morrell?
I have not read any other books by David Morrell, but my sister and I are going to Bouchercon in October and we had one of his books on our list of "books to read" before then. [We are trying to read books by authors whom we have not read before.] Therefore, it was serendipitous that I received this book! Thank you!

Harlan Coben, John Gilstrap, William Kent Krueger, Steve Berry, Tess Gerritsen, Lawrence Block, Elizabeth Lowell, James Grippando, J. A. Jance, Richard North Patterson, T. Jefferson Parker, and many more.
What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
THE SHIMMER was difficult to put down, so it did not take me long to read it. I enjoyed the characters and the action. Plus, the fact that the lights really exist is intriguing --- I had not heard of them before.

What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
Suspense in THE SHIMMER started at the beginning of the book and never let up! There were absolutely no "dull" places. The characters were all believable and well developed. The story was fascinating and now I want to go "see" the lights. Morrell describes locations so well that as I read the book, I was there. I finished it in two days and it was hard to put it down.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
I will certainly read future books by David Morrell and now I am going to read all of his books that I missed --- I don't know how I missed this author but I look forward to making up for it. I love to find new [to me] authors. I am so glad my name was chosen to win this book --- I might not have discovered David Morrell on my own.

What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
Fantastic. An easy read --- short chapters --- that makes the reader strive to reach the end, which was remarkably well done! I agree with the author regarding "reality." A great thriller. Five star quality!

What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
Well, if you had told me I would have ever finished a book by the person who created Rambo, I would have had my doubts, but I could not put this book down. I would not have thought it was something I would have enjoyed, but I was just fascinated and anxious to find out what would happen when I turned the page. It was wonderful and entertaining and didn't disgust me too much. I particularly liked the TV reporter and the photographer.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
Yes, I'm looking into more of his books now.
Nan from Stockton, NJ
Have you previously read a book by David Morrell?
Never before this one.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
All the major suspense writers. This is one of my favorite kinds of books to read, especially when on the road.
What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
I loved the premise, and the many subtle and not-so-subtle layers that add to the momentum of this book. The author adds enough humanity and character development to keep things real, while taking us on a rollercoaster rise of a plot.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
Definitely... and I would recommend this book to others who like mystery thrillers.
Phyllis from Louisville, MS
Have you previously read a book by David Morrell?
Yes. Last fall, I read THE SPY WHO CAME FOR CHRISTMAS.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
David Baldacci, Ken Follett, James Rollins, Lisa Gardner, J. D. Robb, Nelson DeMille, Janet Evanovich, Linda Howard, Lee Child, James Patterson. I haven't read Steig Larson yet, but I'm looking forward it.
What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
It was a good summer thriller. The story of sightings of unknown lights (based on real lights) and how they magnified people's emotions for good or bad along with a government conspiracy to harness the lights as weapons kept my interest. I also liked the characters and I thought the conflict between Dan Page and his wife, Tori, added to the story.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
Yes.
Ruby from Tulsa, OK

No.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Jeffery Deaver, James Patterson, Clive Cussler, Robin Cook and others.
What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
I liked the book from the first page and became more deeply involved with the characters as they developed. It was hard to put it down and I found myself eager to get back to the story.
This is a book that I won't soon forget. It is based on an article about real mystery lights in Texas, and the author has incorporated several real events into his story. He gives a lot of background information at the end of the book.
This book got into my dreams two nights as I was reading it. That has never happened before and I read a lot of books.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
Yes.
Stephanie from Sugar Grove, IL
Have you previously read a book by David Morrell?
No, this was my first experience with this author.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Well, the list is pretty long but here are my faves: David Baldacci, Chelsea Cain, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Patricia Cornwell, Jeffery Deaver, Lisa Gardner, Tess Gerritsen, John Grisham, Andrew Gross, Tami Hoag, Stephen Hunter, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Steve Martini, Phillip Margolin, Brad Meltzer, Perri O'Shaughnessy, Ridley Pearson, John Sandford, Karin Slaughter and Stephen White.
What did you think of THE SHIMMER?
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to say that this book hooked me right away within the first chapter. I started it one afternoon while my son attended a summer tutoring class and finished it by lunchtime the next day. That really says it all, don't you think? I liked that the main characters were "real" people like me --- I could relate to that --- not super rich, super smart, super human --- you get the idea. Tori becomes more likable and sympathetic over the course of the story, and you can really empathize with both her and Dan and the way their marriage has grown apart. Of course everyone loves a government conspiracy, but weaving in the past history of Col Raleigh's family and the different effects the lights had on people gave the book a bit of a Stephen King feel.
Would you ever read a future book by David Morrell?
Absolutely! I am excited to find a new author who has a long list of books for me to catch up on. That's always the best.
