Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Michele Martinez's NOTORIOUS.

Aimee from Colorado Springs, CO

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes. I was lucky enough to win her last book, COVER UP.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Joseph Finder, David Baldacci and John Grisham.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
It was quite good. I finished it within a few days, which is always a good barometer on the interest-meter. I found it interesting how easily Jennifer Lamont fell for Evan Diamond --- but maybe that's a true consideration when in the presence of fame and power.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Yes. Based on the two I have read, Ms. Martinez's books are smart, thought provoking, and engaging.

Arthur from Stillwater, OK

This is the first work by Michele Martinez that I have read.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
It was a fascinating novel with a strong plot by a brilliant writer.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I will read other works by this exceptionally gifted writer.

Bryant from Louisville, KY

I enjoy Joseph Finder and Lee Child.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I enjoyed the fast-paced action of NOTORIOUS.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would read a future book by Michele Martinez.

Caren from East Ryegate, VT

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
I have never read a Michele Martinez book before; however I do have her three previous books because Bookreporter.com recommended her. My main problem is that I buy books faster than I can read them.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Some of my favorite suspense/thriller authors are: Lee Child, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Jeffery Deaver, Earl Emerson, Tami Hoag, Linda Howard, Faye Kellerman, James Patterson, David Morrell, Karen Robards, John Sandford, and Brad Thor. Also, I fell in love with these authors when I discovered them through Bookreporter.com: Tess Gerritsen, Robert Crais, Lisa Gardner, William Lashner, Jack Kerley, Brad Meltzer, Lisa Unger and now Michele Martinez.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I loved this book. Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down, and I found myself looking ahead to see what happens next (something I never do unless it's really good). The only thing is that I wished I had started with the first book, MOST WANTED, because it gives you a better feel for Melanie Vargas by understanding her past. I have pulled MOST WANTED off of my bookshelf and put it in my large reading pile beside my easy chair.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I will definitely be purchasing the next Michele Martinez book. Some authors fall in the category of "you don't even need to know what the book is about --- just buy it.” She is one of them --- an automatic buy!

Debbie from Batavia, OH

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I have read MOST WANTED and COVER UP, which are both excellent books!

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I enjoy reading James Patterson, Erica Spindler, and Harlan Coben just to name a few.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
NOTORIOUS was fantastic. I loved the plot and the surprise ending. Her characters are always very interesting and I found that I couldn't put this book down. I loved it.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would most definitely read books by Michele Martinez. I recommend her books to fellow readers.

Elaine from Calexico, CA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
I have wanted to read MOST WANTED and COVER-UP, but they are unavailable at my local library. I am donating NOTORIOUS to them in the hopes they will order Michele Martinez in the future. We are a border community in California and it is important to have good Hispanic authors for role models for our people.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Some of the other authors I read are Daniel Silva, Robert Crais, Clive Cussler, Stuart Woods and Stephen White.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I thoroughly enjoyed NOTORIOUS, reading it in two days. It was a good balance between dialogue and narrative. Characterization was very good, but the flow of language was exceptional. It was smooth --- not choppy --- and easy to follow. Also, it was not burdened down with court room procedures that I find very boring. Not having gratuitous sex scenes was a plus because they do not enhance a story.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I will definitely read Michele Martinez in the future.

George from Cleveland, OH

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
This is the first book I have read by Michele Martinez.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Perri O'Shaughnessy, Elizabeth George, Erica Spindler, Karen Rose and many more great writers.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I started reading NOTORIOUS and just couldn't seem to put it down until I couldn't keep my eyes open, but I finished it the next day. It was terrific!

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I plan to buy all of her backlist of books and just keep reading. Thank you!

Jessica from Haverhill, MA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
I have not read any other books by Michele Martinez --- this was my first.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I would say my favorite author is Jodi Picoult... I've read a lot of Dean Koontz, Kay Hooper and most recently the Harry Potter series.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I really enjoyed this book. It took a few unsuspecting turns here and there, which is always good. I really liked the fact that the action started right away with the car bombing. I also liked how the chapters were short --- I think it kept me reading more at one sitting.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would read another book by Michele Martinez.

Libby from Hope Valley, RI

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Stephen White, John Sanford, Minette Walters, Peter Robinson, Greg Iles, John Case and others.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I found it fast paced, believable and with enough questionable characters --- though I found the portrayal of drugs, rap and groupies/fans frightening. It kept my interest with a satisfying end.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Sure, I’ll probably read her earlier books.

Linda from Potomac MD

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read the Kellermans, Michael Connelly, John Grisham, Sue Grafton, Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, David Baldacci, Nevada Barr, Stuart Woods, John Lescroat and many more!

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I thought it was a very good read and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It generated enough suspense and anticipation to keep me from putting it down, but was light enough to finish quickly.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Absolutely --- I plan to get the others soon and dig in.

LuAnn from Othello, WA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read David Baldacci, J. A. Jance, Iris Johansen and Stephen King.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I was very impressed by Michele Martinez’s writing style. She tells a story in such a way that keeps the reader guessing to the end who the killer is. Each time I thought I had it figured out, she came up with another twist that sent the story in a different direction. There were lots of action, interesting characters and an exciting plot --- exactly what makes a good thriller.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would definitely read another book by Michele Martinez.

Robin from Vienna, VA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No, I have not, but I can say that NOTORIOUS will not be my last book. I plan to read some of the earlier books in the Melanie Vargas series.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I am a real fan of the thriller suspense genre and I like legal thrillers (John Grisham, Lisa Scottoline), psychological thrillers (James Patterson --- Women's Murder Club and Alex Delaware series), police procedurals (John Sandford --- Lucas Davenport series, Robert B. Parker --- Jessie Stone series) and thrillers featuring PIs (Robert B. Parker --- Spenser series). These are just a few examples of some of my all-time favorites but there are too many to list, and I always feel bad when I realize that there are so many more that I would like to add).

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I found it to be a really good story that captured me in the first chapter. The action started early and did not let up until the last page. I really liked Melanie Vargas and I think that the author did a tremendous job of integrating the human side of her into the plotline of a really thrilling and complicated legal case. It is a fast read because the storyline moves quickly, the chapter lengths are short, and the dialogue really envelops the reader into the case.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Absolutely --- in fact, I plan to go back and read the first book in the series and work my way through all of them. I like to read a series in order, but had no problem reading NOTORIOUS without having read the earlier books in the series.

Whitney from Elizabethtown, PA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Lee Child, Patricia Cornwell, Stuart Woods, Giles Blunt, Karin Slaughter and Ridley Pearson.

What did you think of NOTORIOUS?
I thought it was an excellent, fast-paced read with a satisfying ending. It was extremely hard to put down. I have not particularly been drawn to "legal thrillers" before, but this was a pleasant surprise.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Yes.
