Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Will Lavender's OBEDIENCE.

April from Leicester, MA

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read John Sanford, Karin Slaughter, Tess Gerritsen, Laura Lippman, Dennis Lehane, John Case, Linda Fairstein, Harlan Coben and Michael Prescott.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
Overall, I enjoyed it. The ending was not what I expected, but when I think about it, I realize that it's a fairly logical conclusion to the story, pardon the pun.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
Absolutely.

Janis from Maxwell Air Force Base, AL

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Mary Higgins Clark and John Grisham.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
I really enjoyed reading it. It definitely kept my attention and I found myself wanting to keep reading instead of doing other things! It kept me on my toes. I thought I had it figured out --- then another twist would be thrown in, make me second guess myself and have another idea.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
Yes.

Mitch from Olyphant, PA

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read James Patterson, Stuart Woods and David Baldacci.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
It was good.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
Maybe.

Phyllis from Louisville, MS

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read David Baldacci, Lee Child, James Patterson, Deanna Raybourn, Jayne Ann Krentz, J. D. Robb, Brad Meltzer, Joseph Finder, and Richard North Patterson.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
From the beginning of the Logic and Reasoning class and the assignment to find Polly in order to prevent her death, I was hooked. Following the thoughts and investigative paths of Mary, Brian, and Dennis kept me eager to keep reading. The ending took me by surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
Most definitely. I will look for others by him.

Jared from American Fork, UT

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read John Grisham, Tess Gerritsen, Michael Palmer, James Patterson, Robin Cook, David Baldacci, Brad Meltzer, Robert Ludlum, Dan Brown, etc.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
This book is very interesting. I found myself intrigued by the story and the characters. I did not like the language used --- it was totally out of place and offered no relevance for the plot or character development. The story, however, was well told and kept you guessing right until the end. The characters were very likable and you really felt like you were right there with them. The story had wonderful description and it gave you the ability to really feel what the characters were feeling and experiencing. There were a number of plot twists that lead you in wrong directions but then the characters would figure things out and take you in a whole different one. I was trying, throughout the whole story, to figure out what was happening.

The title of the book, OBEDIENCE, had nothing to do with the plot until the very last chapter when you get an idea of something that is relevant to the title, but is not the main focus of the story. It didn't really make sense and I tried to understand the choice of title. Even after finishing the book, it still doesn't make sense. Maybe this is a book that needs discussion with others to see the hidden meanings in things. I'm left with the overall impression that while it was a page turner, it makes no sense whatsoever and I probably would not read it again.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
Yes, as long as the foul language was toned down.

Matt from Chelsea, OK

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read a wide variety including Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Dean Koontz, etc.

What did you think of OBEDIENCE?
I couldn't get into it, and didn't like any of the characters enough to be interested in what happened to them.

Would you ever read a future book by Will Lavender?
I don't know. It will depend on whether it looks to be just another iteration of this one.
