- Kevin was raised on Chicago’s North Shore and is the youngest of six children.
- Kevin studied Journalism at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
- In college, Kevin wrote his first screenplay and found a New York agent to represent it. It was never sold, but he vowed to get himself published by the age of 30.
- For eighteen years, Kevin wrote at night while working as a railroad inspector during the day. During his last five years at that job, he focused on the inspection of hazardous material rail cars and emergency response work.
- Kevin sold his first novel, ACTORS, on his thirtieth birthday. It was published in 1987, and subsequently translated into three languages.
- Kevin’s second book, ONLY SON, was optioned for film rights by MGM, thanks to interest from Tom Hanks. It was also chosen by Readers Digest for their Select Editions.
- Many of Kevin's novels are critically acclaimed bestsellers --- NEXT TO DIE (2001) was praised by Publishers Weekly and climbed up the USA Today bestseller charts; WATCH THEM DIE (2003) and LEFT FOR DEAD (2004) were both runners up for the Friends of Mystery Spotted Owl Award; THE LAST VICTIM (2005) was awarded the Spotted Owl for "Best Pacific Northwest Mystery" and was a New York Times bestseller, along with 2007's KILLING SPREE.
- Kevin’s brother-in-law is Mike Leonard of NBC’s Today Show, who is also the New York Times bestselling author of THE RIDE OF OUR LIVES.
- Kevin loves Alfred Hitchcock films.
- Currently, Kevin lives in Seattle and is hard at work on his tenth novel.
