- Bestselling author Steve Berry has been writing since 1990, but it
took him 12 years --- 85 rejections over 5 different manuscripts ---
before Ballantine Books bought one of his manuscripts. His first
novel, THE AMBER ROOM, was published in 2003.
- An early version of THE AMBER ROOM placed third in the 1998 Florida
First Coast Writers Festival.
- In 2000 and 2001, Steve won the Georgia State Bar fiction writing
contest and his two short stories appeared in the Georgia State Bar
Journal.
- Steve's bestsellers include: THE ALEXANDRIA LINK, THE TEMPLAR
LEGACY, THE THIRD SECRET, THE ROMANOV PROPHECY and THE AMBER ROOM.
- Steve's books have been published in 40 countries and 38 languages.
- Steve's most recent book, THE VENETIAN BETRAYAL, is the third novel
featuring Cotton Malone. This latest adventure takes the former U. S.
Justice Department agent turned rare-book dealer to Denmark, Venice,
and the Pamir mountains of Central Asia in search of Alexander the
Great's final resting place. Two more Cotton Malone novels are slated
for release in 2008 and 2009.
- Steve studied political science and law in college, and has since
been practicing law for 27 years.
- Steve is active in local politics, having served on the Camden
County Board of Education and, currently, he's one of five members of
the Camden County Board of Commissioners. He also serves as chairman
of the Board of Trustees for the Camden County Library.
- Steve enjoys traveling, and he and his wife Amy have spent time in
the Caribbean, Mexico, Germany, Austria, England, Russia, Italy,
Switzerland, Holland, France, and Denmark.
- Steve and his wife currently live on the Georgia coast.
