Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about John Lutz's IN FOR THE KILL.

Annika from Boulder, CO

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
This is the first book by Lutz that I've read.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I enjoy reading Laura Lippman, Lisa Gardner, Michael Connelly and Harlan Coben.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
This was a great edge-of-your-seat thriller. I loved the main character, Quinn, and the killer was so creepy. This was definitely not a book for the squeamish, as theviolence waspretty graphic. I loved the use of flashbacks to get the killer's background.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
I will read more by Lutz. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

Dianna from Dayton, TX

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Tom Clancy, Jeffery Deaver, Nelson DeMille, Barry Eisler, John Grisham, The Kellermans and James Patterson are a few of my favorite mystery writers.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
IN FOR THE KILL was an addictive, fast read. From the first page to the unexpected ending, it was difficult to put down. This was so addictive, and now I want to read everything else John Lutzhas written, especially others in the John Quinn series. My only complaint is that I could not find an author website.

Jean from Charlotte, NC

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
I have never read any books by John Lutz.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I have read John Patterson and Elizabeth George in the past. Patterson draws one into the book with his language and short chapters. George delves into the psyche of the killer, whereas Lutz goes into detail about the victims and the bystanders. I was home alone when I started reading the book, and felt that every noise was a killer trying to "get me. "

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
I felt that Lutz did a superb job with the story and the build to the climax. [Editor's note: This comment was edited to prevent spoilers}

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
I belong to a mystery book club and I feel that a book by John Lutz would be a great recommendation for next year. However, I do feel that the description of the victim was too vivid, but the scene is like the one in OUT by Natsuo Kirino, where Japanese women kill and cut up their victims.

Kimberly from Grand Rapids, MI

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
No, I have not.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Harlan Coben, Joseph Finder, Michael Connelly, Brad Meltzer, David Baldacci, Richard Montanari and Brian Haig, just to name a few.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
Well, after reading the brief write-up on Bookreporter, I was prepared to hate it. It sounded like he had totally ripped off the Dexter plot line from Jeff Lindsay. Bloodless body parts, cut up and stacked neatly... give me a break. Can anyone say Ice Truck killer? But, I soon found myself unable to put the book down. The story is different enough from the Dexter novels, and was very enjoyable to read. His writing style reminds me a bit of the early Richard Montanari (DEVIANT WAY, THE VIOLET HOUR). I also have to give kudos to the design firm that produced the cover art. That face on the cover was super creepy and, more often than not, I had to leave the book face down on the table. Now that I write that, I'm not sure if thatis a good thing or not. :)

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
Absolutely! It was an enjoyable read with good characters and a gotta-know-what-happens-next plotline. I'm always looking to add to the roster of good go-to authors.

Lin from Watagua, TX

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
No, I've never read any of his books before, but I'm going to backtrack now and read them all.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read all books by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Jeffery Deaver, Harlan Coben, Kathy Reichs, and Faye & Jonathan Kellerman, just to name a few.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
IN FOR THE KILL was a wonderful surprise. It started out strong and stayed that way. It's the kind of book you don't want to put down. I really loved the clues to the murdered women and the angle that the killer used, allbased around Quinn.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
I will most definitely look for his future books.

Mary from Carmel, IN

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
Yes, I read SWF SEEKS SAME a few years ago.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
John Grisham, David Baldacci, Clive Cussler and J. D. Robb.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
It is very fast moving and seems like a movie. I love the suspense, and the ending caught me completely off guard. It got pretty gory, and to be honest, I skipped over that part pretty quickly. I like suspense/thrillers, but the books have enough to offer besides violence to keep me reading and this one did.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
I would. I think I will also go back and read some of his earlier work. I often do that when I read a book I like --- I go back and try to get to know the author better through his books. I find that as I enjoy an author's new book, it helps me appreciate the ones I have already read by him and want to read others. I will look forward to his next book. What a gift it is to write like that.

Michelle from Nashville, TN

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
This is the first book by Lutz that I have read.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Kathy Reichs, Val McDermid and Erin Hart.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
It was an engaging read. The killer's method was very chilling. Each time a victim was chosen, I kept hoping that she would get away. The organization of the book was slightly odd. For instance, the flashback of the killer as a child did not come until several chapters in. I thought it would have been better suited at the very beginning. Other than that, IN FOR THE KILL was very suspenseful and well worth a reader's attention.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
Yes, based on the suspense of IN FOR THE KILL, I would definitely read a future book by this author.

Rosemary from Ocala, FL

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
This is not my first read by John Lutz. I have read several, and enjoyed his Night series.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I have found few writers that I don't care for, as they all have a story to tell. However, for a suspense thriller, I enjoy Phillip Margolin, Michael Palmer, John Connolly, Michael Connelly  and Harlan Coben, to name a few.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
I really liked the way John Lutz pulls his characters together and makes visualization so easy. The storyline send multiple chills and tingling throughout the pages. I really enjoy a well-written psychological thriller that leaves me creeped out and wanting more. I hope Mr. Lutz has a fantastic writing year ahead for I will be waiting for his next novels. Kudos, Mr. Lutz!!

Sandy from Williamsville, NY

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
No, this was my first John Lutz novel.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
I read Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Dean Koontz and Jonathan Kellerman.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
The plot is gripping andcompelling --- a difficult read to put down. The series of killer's 'clues', however, was an inconsistent part of the plot. The killer starts out spelling the name "Quinn", then leaves some other puzzle clues, and then nothing. That was a little disappointing, distracting, and the story itself was good enough that the killer 'clues' were not even necessary.

There was good character development, and a skillful interweaving of current story and killer's history. The ironic ending was an added treat.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
No ---the story was too graphic in detail regarding the murders to make me want to read another of his books.

Jerry from Miltonm, FL

Have you previously read a book by John Lutz?
This was the first book I've read by Lutz, but it won't be the last.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you usually read?
Kathy Reichs, Karin Slaughter, James Patterson, Stuart Woods, Jeffery Deaver, Tess Gerritsen, Ridley Pearson and Jeff Lindsay.

What did you think of IN FOR THE KILL?
Lutz starts off on a dead run and doesn't slow down. He puts you into the mind of the killer and the shoes of his victims. Its fast pace takes you to a surprise ending.

Would you ever read a future book by John Lutz?
I've already purchased THE NIGHT CALLER.
