- J.D. Robb’s real name is Nora Roberts. The first initials were
taken from Nora's sons Jason and Dan, while Robb is a shortened form of her last name.
- In 1995, Nora created the J.D. Robb pseudonym because she was convinced that readers would enjoy romantic suspense with “a twist.” She and her publisher were content to let the Robb books build slowly with very little tie-in to the Nora Roberts's style of romantic suspense.
- Nora was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, the youngest of five children.
- Nora met her second husband, Bruce Wilder, when she hired him to build bookshelves. They were married in July, 1985.
- Nora’s first book, IRISH THOROUGHBRED, was published by Silhouette in 1981. Since then, she has written more than 170 novels under both her real name and her pseudonym.
- Nora released her first novel as J.D. Robb in 1995, entitled NAKED IN DEATH.
