Matthew from Chelsea, OK

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I have: MOST WANTED. I haven't read THE FINISHING SCHOOL yet, though.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Dean Koontz and Tom Clancy; actually too many to list.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I enjoyed it, actually more than [MOST WANTED]. She seems to be getting better with each book.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Probably. I am interested in her main character, and if she continues to improve, she could make my automatic-read list.

Michael from Puyallup, WA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
I had been planning to, but did not get around to it. Now that I have read COVER-UP, I am sure that I will read her first two books.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I enjoy reading Robert Wilson, especially the Javier Falcon series. I also read John le Carré, Linda Fairstein, Charles McCarry, Robert Littell, Perri O'Shaughnessy and Charles Todd.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
It was fun to read. I was always changing my mind as to who The Central Park Butcher would turn out to be, and I second guessed myself up to the point where Michele Martinez wanted me to know. Even though the overall premise is similar to Linda Fairstein's Alex Cooper series [a female prosecutor who starts out as the pursuer, but ends up being pursued], Martinez has added her own twists.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I will catch up on the Melanie Vargas series, and I am sure that I will read her next book.

Peggy from Woonsocket, RI

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No, I haven't.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I don't usually read suspense/thriller authors.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I couldn't put COVER-UP down. I read it one sitting. I really enjoyed it, because I couldn't guess the ending.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I would read her previous books and any future books she will write.

Sandra from Portsmouth, VA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I read THE FINISHING SCHOOL.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read James Patterson, Lee Child, Harlan Coben, David Baldacci, Patricia Cornwell and many, many others.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
COVER-UP was a very good story, complete with twists and turns that kept me interested in the outcome. The characters were well-developed. While her hands-on approach seemed out of character for a federal prosecutor, that aspect of Melanie's personality makes for a gripping story. Additionally, her conflict between her career and her child rings true for many parents, and added depth to the story.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I definitely would read a future book.

Tammy from Bedford, IN

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No, This is the first book by Ms. Martinez that I have had the pleasure of reading.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read J. D. Robb, Tami Hoag, Lisa Scottoline, Kay Hooper, Catherine Coulter, Erica Spindler, Iris Johansen, Lisa Gardner and Sandra Brown, plus lots more!

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I loved it! The storyline was very well plotted out. It kept me in suspense and I couldn't put the book down until I learned who was behind the killing. The characters were very in-depth and made you care about them while feeling the same emotions they were feeling. I truly enjoyed reading this story and can't wait to read the previous books she has written.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Absolutely! I've already ordered her previous two.

JoAnn from Pittsburgh, PA

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
COVER-UP was the first book I have read by Michele Martinez.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I have read books by Sandra Brown, Tess Gerritsen, Iris Johansen, Tami Hoag and Richard North Patterson.  If memory serves me well, Richard North Patterson probably is the best of these, although I haven't read him in a while.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
It was neither the best nor the worst thriller I've ever read. [It wasn't] exactly "edge of your seat" because the heroine was sensible enough to protect herself. There's something to be said for a protagonist who is not stupid, but consequently, she does not throw herself in harm's way very often.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I'm not certain that I would read Michele Martinez again. There are so many good books to read and so little time. But I thank you for allowing me to try out a new author.

Cynthia from Clovis, NM

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Joseph Finder, Michael Connelly, David Morrell, David Baldacci, Tess Gerritsen, Stephen White, James Patterson and Lee Child, etc.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
This was just an OK book to me. It [really caught my attention at the beginning], and then became bogged down in the middle. The ending [was interesting, but also felt a little contrived and implausible.] The main character, Melanie, had the [potential] to be quite interesting, complex and human, but for some reason [I] did not want to know more about her in future books. I would have liked to know more about the murder victim and what led her to be in the park. As I said, [COVER-UP] was an OK book, but not one I would rave about or probably even recommend.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Probably at least one more.

Barbara from Westmont, NJ

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, both the first and second books.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?

Stephen White, Faye Kellerman, Robert B. Parker, Sue Grafton and many others.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I enjoyed COVER-UP. It continued to develop the characters from the first two in the series. I would recommend reading them in order. The main character is likable. The story is suspenseful.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would read the next in the series.

Debbie from Batavia, OH

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I read Michele Martinez's first book MOST WANTED and it was wonderful.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I enjoy reading James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman and Dean Koontz, just to name a few.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I loved COVER-UP! It was a great suspense "who done it" book. I love the main characters Melanie and Dan. Ms. Martinez draws you into their lives, and you want them to succeed. This book keeps you on your toes and you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. You think you have it figured out, then it changes; it's great! I am recommending this book to all my friends and can't wait to find out what happens next for Melanie and Dan!

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
I would read every book by her! She has a fan for life here. Her books are great!

Richard from Milwaukee, WI

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
No, this was the first one.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
The last couple of years, I have NOT been reading suspense/thriller works. But in the past, I read James Patterson, John Sandford, and Jonathan Kellerman. I also enjoy the mysteries by John Dunning and Lawrence Block (especially the Bernie Rhodenbarr series).

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I was immediately caught up in the plot. I found Melanie Vargas and Dan O'Reilly to be believable characters. The twists and red herrings kept me interested. On the whole, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Would you ever read a future book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I would.

Sue from Scottsdale, AZ

Have you previously read a book by Michele Martinez?
Yes, I have read all the books that Michele Martinez has published and will look forward to her future publications.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read constantly, and yes, I do enjoy the suspense/thriller genre (as well as literature, historical, and some nonfiction; no science fiction, however). Some of the authors that I read are: Thomas Cook, Donna Leon (great series set in Venice), T. Jefferson Parker, Peter Abrahams, Michael Connelly, Greg Iles and John Lescroart.  Richard North Patterson is also a favorite and his recent book, EXILE, is not only a good thriller, but also is very informative regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.  I found it very interesting and different from his other books. In the lawyer/suspense genre, I enjoy D. W. Buffa, David Baldacci, Phillip Margolin, Steve Martini and Elizabeth George. My list would not be complete without mentioning my favorite British authors, P. D. James (her wonderful book THE LIGHTHOUSE is her best, and to be writing so well at 80 years is unbelievable), Peter Lovesey, Peter Robinson and Ian Rankin.

What did you think of COVER-UP?
I enjoyed the book and found it to be an easy, fun, and fast read (as her first two books were). While some critics have found it to be a "chit-lit suspense thriller", I would put it in the suspense "beach or airplane book" category --- good to read while traveling or enjoying some time in the sun. The plot moves quickly, there is much dialogue to keep the pages turning, and yes, there is even a good deal of romance to lighten the plot.  The author develops the characters very well, and by the third novel, many of those mentioned seem like old friends. I would recommend that people read the books in the order written. This allows the reader to not only learn of Melanie's history, but also allows one to truly develop a feel for each character.

The author does an excellent job of surprising the reader with a finale that has a special twist. I found the book to be a good suspense thriller and am looking forward to her next novel. The author does an excellent job of leaving the reader wanting more, i.e. the relationship [between] Melanie and Dan, the role of Bernadette, Mark, Susan and Shekeya.
