William Landay

- William was born and raised in Boston, where he now lives with his wife and two sons.
- William graduated from Yale University and Boston College Law School. For several years, he served as an assistant district attorney before turning to writing.
- William published his first book, MISSION FLATS, in 2003. The novel was awarded the John Creasey Memorial Dagger as the best debut crime novel of 2003.
- William drew upon some of his real-life experiences as an assistant D. A. to write MISSION FLATS. For example, in court he once encountered a homeless man who unsuccessfully attempted suicide and instead mutilated his face in the process. That man surfaced in the novel as a jawless hermit, Maurice Oulette.
- William's latest novel, THE STRANGLER, is loosely based on the Boston Strangler case, as well as the crime world of 1960s Boston.
- William credits authors such as John Updike, Philip Roth, Ian McEwan, John Le Carré, Graham Greene, W. Somerset Maugham, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Stephen King as some of his many influences.
