QUESTIONS FROM READERS

Frank Turner Hollon answers readers' questions about the setting and characters of BLOOD AND CIRCUMSTANCE, and shares plans concerning future projects.

Debbie from Charlotte, NC: I felt that Dr. Andrews was justified in helping Joel to escape; then I questioned the new stories told by Lisa. In my heart, I believe that Joel was sane and that Lisa was the insane one. Please help me.

Frank Turner Hollon: My intention was to place the reader, eventually, in the shoes of a person unable to distinguish between delusion and reality. If you were confused, maybe I accomplished the goal.

Donna from Concord, MA: Who left the penny on top of John Clayton's headstone?

Frank Turner Hollon: I do not know who left the penny on top of John Clayton's headstone.

Kevin from El Dorado Hills, CA: Do you have plans to have a recurring character and a series of books surrounding a single character?

Frank Turner Hollon: No, Kevin, I don't have plans to write any books with recurring characters, although I've been thinking a lot about an overweight Irishman with uncanny quickness and a fear of small animals.

Matt from Opelika, AL: Why did you place this story in Georgia? The cotton references made me think, for most of the novel, that it was set in Alabama. What does it all mean?

Frank Turner Hollon: I am curious as to why you felt the book was set in Georgia. I am usually purposefully vague about locations and dates in order to minimize limitations and allow readers to imagine. Perhaps you imagined Georgia?

Nancy from Claremont, CA: When is your next book coming out?

Frank Turner Hollon: The next book under contract is a funny book (at least I think it's funny) called AUSTIN & EMILY. It grew from a short story published in The Alumni Grill called "The Secret Life of Emily Dooley." The book is more in line with LIFE IS A STRANGE PLACE (published in 2003) and hopefully being made into a movie soon titled Barry Munday.
