Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Joshua Spanogle's ISOLATION WARD.

Vance from Columbus, OH

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read Jack Higgins, Nelson DeMille, Michael Crichton, Stephen King and Clive Barker, etc.

What did you think of ISOLATION WARD?
I thought ISOLATION WARD was pretty good. The plot and flow of the story moved along at a good pace. However, I think the character of Dr. McCormick was erratic. He seemed to fly off the handle over things that were meaningless. If he is going to be a continuous character, I think he needs some fine-tuning. The fact that either of the two lead female characters was interested in him was mind-boggling. Also, when they found the body with organs removed, there should have been a stronger reaction from the authorities.

I think overall, ISOLATION WARD was a very good first effort. I like the fact [Spanogle] explained most of the medical jargon that was used. It's no fun reading a book that makes you feel stupid. This one did not do that. I'm looking forward to his next book.
Thank you very much for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

Would you ever read a future book by Joshua Spanogle?
I would read his next novel. The dialogue and character development is good.

Chere from Mesa, AZ

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
John Grisham, Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz, David Morrell, David Baldacci, Mary Higgins Clark and Clive Cussler.

What did you think of ISOLATION WARD?
ISOLATION WARD is a thrilling read. For a debut novel, author Joshua Spanogle truly packs a punch. The action begins on the very first page and doesn’t let up throughout the entire story. The character of Dr. Nathaniel McCormick is very realistic and remains true to himself. As an employee of the CDC, we learn of the internal structure of the organization and all the politics involved. And through Nathaniel, we learn what happens when someone isn’t very diplomatic in dealing with an outbreak of a new disease. Not only is this a very thrilling read, it’s also a story of self-discovery as Nathaniel learns just how far he will go to do his job. Nathaniel must also deal with relationships in this story, both past and present. All in all, this book is filled with many different levels and I enjoyed discovering them all.

Would you ever read a future book by Joshua Spanogle?
In a heartbeat.

Dianna from Dayton, TX

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Attempting to answer your questions in alphabetical order, I read Doug Allyn, Russell Andrews, Steve Berry, Dan Brown, Stephen L. Carter, John Case, Mark Cohen, Michael Connelly, Clive Cussler, Jeffery Deaver, Nelson DeMille, Barry Eisler, Christopher Fowler, Tess Gerritsen, James Grippando, John Grisham, Carol Goodman, John Katzenbach, Faye Kellerman, Phillip Margolin, Kyle Mills, James Rollins and Ian Smith.

What did you think of ISOLATION WARD?
Reading ISOLATION WARD by Joshua Spanogle is a high octane, adrenaline rush. This book should come with a strong medical warning for anyone with a weak heart --- or a heartbeat at all. Without becoming bogged down in scientific terms, Spanogle supplies enough technical and background information to keep the reader involved. It is impossible not to become invested with the well-rounded characters, each with their own agenda. So often it is impossible to know who to trust, adding to the tension.

ISOLATION WARD can be read only while multitasking, or nothing else will be accomplished. Forget about all other obligations --- they will be forgotten, delayed or resented until you have finished the last line on the last page.

This one adventure I am glad I did not miss.

Even though I have finished ISOLATION WARD, I have ask the county library system to purchase this book. No one should miss reading this jewel.

Thank you for the opportunity to read ISOLATION WARD. Joshua Spanogle is now my favorite suspense author.

Would you ever read a future book by Joshua Spanogle?
I have added my name to the publisher's notification list for the next Joshua Spanogle offering.

Kitty from Trilby, FL

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Harlan Coben, Mary Higgins Clark, Janet Evanovich, Stuart Woods, Carolyn Haines, Tim Cockey, Lisa Gardner, Kay Hooper, Ethan Black, Mariah Stewart, James Patterson, Linda Howard, John Saul, Dean Koontz, Heather Graham, Anne Frasier, Lee Child, Sandra Brown, Christopher Rice, Robert Crais, Michael Connelly, Iris Johansen, Tami Hoag and Tess Gerritsen.

What did you think of ISOLATION WARD?
Great characters and an interesting plot. I liked the way the story fell into place and came together in an unlikely path. The storyline kept you guessing as to whom would do what and which direction a character would go next. It was very interesting and entertaining and gave some insight into research and what is involved as well.

Would you ever read a future book by Joshua Spanogle?
Yes.

Allison from Houston, TX

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Michael Crichton is a favorite author of mine, along with John Grisham and Anne Rice, but I like the medical-based books the most.

What did you think of ISOLATION WARD?
ISOLATION WARD was very good. [Spanogle] was very accurate on his subject, background and the ethical issues of his subject matter. I grew up with my mother running a group home for female psych patients from state and government facilities. I felt that the author had been there.

Thanks for the opportunity to read this book. It was a really good read and I read it once for the review and again to confirm. I read it a second time because it felt like a comfy couch.

Would you ever read a future book by Joshua Spanogle?
Yes, I would read another book by Joshua Spanogle. He is the type of author that you can tell your friends and book club about --- but you cannot lend out your copy because you would not get it back.
