- A conversation Stephen White had with Peter Barton, co-author of NOT FADE AWAY: A Short Life Well-Lived, sparked his idea for writing KILL ME.
- White was a practicing clinical psychologist when he began writing his first novel, PRIVILEGED INFORMATION, in 1989. The novel introduced readers to Dr. Alan Gregory.
- The Alan Gregory novels are set in Boulder, Colorado. White lived in Boulder on and off for 15 years.
