What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I absolutely loved THE DEATH COLLECTORS and it would make a great summer beach read! When I first learned that I had won an ARC, I was ecstatic because I like to try new authors and I had never heard of Jack Kerley before. I went straight out and bought his first book THE HUNDREDTH MAN because he used the same main characters in both books and I like to read books in order. Both books were excellent, but I would recommend reading THE HUNDREDTH MAN first because I think it helps in understanding Detective Carson Ryder and his family background a little better. However, you don't need THE HUNDREDTH MAN to enjoy THE DEATH COLLECTORS. When things start to get weird (like dead bodies showing up with small pieces of art near each body; painted by a guy who died several years ago) it's time to call in the PSIT (Piss-it) team. Detective Carson Ryder, and Harry Nautilus, his sidekick are sole members of the PSIT team which stands for "Psychopathological and Sociopathological Investigative Team." Jack Kerley knows how to write interesting, fast-paced, and well-written books with a lot of surprising
twist and turns.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
Thank you for introducing me to Jack Kerley because he is on my automatic "buy" list, and I can't wait until his next book comes out. I only hope he continues with the "Piss-it" team.

What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I like the main characters and the Mobile setting. The book is a page-turner and I found it difficult to put down. The actual resolution of the mystery surprised me --- I didn't see it coming. Jeremy is a very interesting character.

What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I think THE DEATH COLLECTORS was a great book. I liked the way Mr. Kerley pulled it all together in the end. I especially liked the humor. When that woman went after Carson at her home, I thought it was hilarious! And then, when DeeDee was trying to light up that pipe for the old man, again, I laughed out loud. [Kerley is] a very good writer, with a great plot and great characters. I liked the fashion sense that he chose for Harry. I could picture him clearly.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
Yes, I would read another Jack Kerley book. Looking forward to it.

Have you previously read a book by Jack Kerley?
I have previously read THE HUNDREDTH MAN. I enjoyed it enough to want to read more.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and a lot more.
What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I thought THE DEATH COLLECTORS was a very good read. It was quick and easy which is what most people want
from thrillers. I found the two main characters to be very entertaining and they never got old to me as others have. Jeremy adds a very unique perspective that other thriller series do not have. It will be interesting to watch how he is used in future books. My only problem was that I didn't really understand the character Terry Forrier. It seemed that he was just used for obtaining the bait and than he was a main player. Maybe it's just me, but that was one coincidence that didn't ring true. It makes since after it is explained the link to Marsden Hexcamp.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
Yes.

What do you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I usually read books by Kay Hooper, Patricia Cornwell, Clive Cussler, Jeffery Deaver, Catherine Coulter, Jack Higgins, Kathy Reichs and Robert Ludlum.
What do you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I really liked reading THE DEATH COLLECTORS. One chapter kept leading to the next. It was hard to find a good spot to lay the book down. It was a well-thought out plot. Every time you just KNEW who did it, it wasn't them! A great read to the very last page!

Have you previously read a book by Jack Kerley?
I thoroughly have enjoyed reading THE DEATH COLLECTORS. I found Mr. Kerley writing very entertaining. I have never read any previous books by Mr. Kerley but will definitely read his books in the future. I even have suggested
THE DEATH COLLECTOR for my mystery book discussion group.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I enjoy reading almost any suspense/thriller book. Some of my favorites are Patricia Cornwell, James Lee Burke, Elmore Leonard, Agatha Christie, James Patterson and Caleb Carr.
What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I thought THE DEATH COLLECTOR was very well-written.
Since I read a lot I tend to edit books as I read, I usually can find numerous mistakes within the book, especially the setting. I only found one confliction with Mr. Kerley's text (pages 68 and 70: Sister Beatrice's eye color is two different colors on these pages). Overall, I loved the underlying humor that Mr. Kerley used to keep the book from becoming too gory. I also enjoyed the character of Carson Ryder and the fact that even though he was a homicide detective still kept his humor and humility. This made the character very real. I was instantly drawn into the story and found it very difficult to put the book down. I really liked the shorter chapters. I feel that books that use this technique move the story along quicker.
I found Jeremy, Carson's brother, a nice touch to the story. I accepted Carson easier knowing that he had experienced the same pain that his victim's friends and family experience. I'm also glad that Carson had a partner like Harry. His character kept the humor going and I found that they complimented each other nicely.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
I would definitely read future books by Mr. Kerley.

Have you previously read a book by Jack Kerley?
This is the first book I've read by Jack Kerley.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Janet Evanovich, Robert Parker, Daniel Silva, Joseph Finder, Kathy Reichs, John Connolly, Jeffery Deaver and many others.
What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
The DEATH COLLECTORS was the best book I read recently. I found it difficult to put it down and that doesn't happen very often. I felt I knew each character personally. You got to know each character without any detailed description, but through their conversations with other characters. And they seemed real. The plot was believable and definitely kept your interest.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
Without question.
Lisa from Aurora, IL
Have you previously read a book by Jack Kerley?
I have previously read THE HUNDREDTH MAN by Jack Kerley and found it good but his new book was even better.

I usually read Jonathan Kellerman, Iris Johansen, and Patricia Cornwell. I enjoy the forensic realism and profiling element I find in this type of writing.
What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I read THE DEATH COLLECTORS in one day. Its plot was interesting and well-written, so the ending was a complete surprise. The characters were developed in a way that their relationships helped to move the action along smoothly. I loved the ending! It was refreshing to have my brain worked while trying to figure out the twist in the last chapter. I would recommend this book to my friends.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
I look forward to reading more of Jack Kerley's books.
Leslie from Tamarac, FL
Have you previously read a book by Jack Kerley?
Never.
What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Patterson, Spindler, Cornwell, Connelly, Pearson, Hoffman, Robards and Kellerman, et al.
What did you think of THE DEATH COLLECTORS?
I had trouble getting into the book. About halfway through, I started to get interested. Had this been a "regular" library book, it would have been returned unfinished. I felt a certain obligation to complete the novel so I could give an opinion about it. I found it slow and tedious to read.
Would you ever read a future title by Jack Kerley?
Yes, I think the author has potential to write books that will interest me; however, this one did not. I enjoy reading and do not exclude any author.
