Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Greg Rucka's A GENTLEMAN'S GAME.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I have read every book by Jonathan and Faye Kellerman, Jeffery Deaver, Aaron Elkins, Stephen White, Dan Brown, Kathy Reichs, Linda Fairstein, Robert Ludlum, Michael Connelly, Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, Ed McBain, Lawrence Block, Donald Westlake, and others that take too long to mention.

What did you think of A GENTLEMAN'S GAME?
Greg Rucka has found a place on my "writers to read" list. A GENTLEMAN'S GAME was a very nonstop, brilliantly crafted, and superbly written thriller. He presents no ordinary thrills, and keeps you feeling as though you are right there making every move that Tara Chace and Tom Wallace makes. Tara is a very unique and unforgettable character. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I am now going to read others that Mr. Rucka has written (FINDERS, KEEPER, SMOKER, CRITICAL SPACE and SHOOTING AT MIDNIGHT).

Thanks for allowing me the pleasure to examine an author I had not read, but will from now on.

What did you think of A GENTLEMAN'S GAME?
Through Bookreporter.com I was a lucky recipient of an advanced reader's copy of Greg Rucka's latest book, A GENTLEMAN'S GAME. This is a regular novel that spun off from Rucka's successful graphic novel Queen and Country series. I found the set-up phase of the story longer than I would have liked and the switches back and forth in point of view from chapter to chapter made reading the first third of the book easy to put aside. Knowing I like Greg Rucka's Atticus Kodiak books, I stuck with the first part of the book with an open mind. After the story settled down with all the players in place I was hooked and found the last half of the book to be a fast-paced page turner with a powerful ending. The book has an espionage theme and involves actions by contemporary terrorist groups --- one of the several point of views expressed throughout the story is from a terrorist's outlook. This was difficult to read, and even more so for reading the book on September 11th. I gave A GENTLEMAN'S GAME a good 8+ of 10 rank in my journal in large part for the gut wrenching suspense in the last part of the book. recommend.

Have you previously read a book by Greg Rucka?
Yes, I've read his entire Atticus Kodiak series.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I love Daniel Silva and Brad Thor.

What did you think of A GENTLEMAN'S GAME?
After you familiarize yourself with the English acronyms and all the characters introduced the book is an easy, suspenseful read. The book had a good ending that doesn't leave anything unanswered, yet allows itself to be continued.

Would you ever read a future title by Greg Rucka?
Definitely.

Have you previously read a book by Greg Rucka?
I had never read Greg Rucka before.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I have read Stuart Woods and recently enjoyed Claire Berlinski's book LOOSE LIPS. This is a sort of new genre for me and I enjoy it.

What did you think of A GENTLEMAN'S GAME?
I found A GENTLEMAN'S GAME a little detailed and cumbersome at first, but plodded through the first couple of chapters. Then I was hooked! This reads as though (unfortunately) taken out of today's news reports of acts of terrorism throughout the world. As the tale is woven, you can almost predict the outcome --- but not quite. That's what makes it a pleasure to read.

Would you ever read a future title by Greg Rucka?
I would certainly recommend this and look forward to other Greg Rucka titles.

Have you previously read a book by Greg Rucka?
No.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
James Patterson, Iris Johansen, John Grisham, Lisa Gardner, Sallie Bissell, Harlan Coben, Tess Gerritsen.

What did you think of A GENTLEMAN'S GAME?
Interesting --- different from my usual read. Pace was good and kept up throughout book. Tara was a well drawn character with depth and no stereotyping. Enjoyed the details --- author obviously did his homework on cars (Spitfire MK1 for example), weapons (P90s, HK P2000) and places, clothing (balta, hijab), etc.

Would you ever read a future title by Greg Rucka?
Possibly --- depends on the plotline.BR>
