Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Jack Kerley's THE HUNDREDTH MAN.

cvinci01@insightbb.com

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
Gregg Hurwitz, T. Jefferson Parker, Jeffery Deaver, Michael Connelly, Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson, David Baldacci, James Lee Burke.

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
I thought it was a very good book, more so considering that it was a debut. Kerley includes plenty of twists in the plot and secrets about his characters to keep readers interested all the way through the book. It also took me to the end to figure out who the killer was which is something that isn't even always true about the other writers I mentioned --- some of whom have everything they write go instantly to the top of bestseller lists.

Would you read future titles by Jack Kerley?
Yes.

Robert P. Parker, Michael Connelly, Stephen White, Phillip Margolin.

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
Thanks for sending me THE HUNDREDTH MAN. It was a great read and I believe that Jack Kerley has a fine future as a suspense writer.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
While reading a variety of titles in this genre, the following authors are those that I have read (and will read) all of their works. Robert Crais, Martin Cruz Smith, Dennis Lehane, Lawrence Block's Scudder series (I don't think King, Hiaasen and Leonard fit this category, though).

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
THE HUNDREDTH MAN has many aspects that are recognizable from other works. The young white cop/grizzled black cop partnership… police politics... hero/female-in-need love interest, etc. However, as the book progresses it travels farther and farther away from what you think are the generic formulaic characters and stories. The story takes on its own life and the author finds his own voice. The twists and turns of the plot and characters are both believable and surprising. It is well written, well researched and maintains a frenetic pace. The descriptive aspects of the surroundings are also never forced and provide a nice ballast to the graphic events surrounding them.

Would you read future titles by Jack Kerley?
I would definitely read future titles by Jack Kerley, and not wait for the paperback version.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
Other suspense/thriller writers I read: John Sandford, Michael Connelly, Robert Tanenbaum, Robert Crais, Steve Martini, Sue Grafton, Tami Hoag and on and on.

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
I LOVED IT --- READ IT SO FAST I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! He has a great future ahead of him. The characters were so well developed and the plot superb. I cannot wait for the next book by him. I thought that Jack Kerley's writing style and ideas remind me so much of Sandord and Connelly. It seemed that I became "comfortable" with this book from page one. My kind of writer!! Thank you so much for this opportunity. I really loved this book!

Would you read future titles by Jack Kerley?
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE. DO YOU KNOW IF HE HAS A NEW BOOK ON THE FRONT BURNER? I would love to be notified when he has a new one --- I am very impatient when it comes to my favorite writers --- love every one of their books, finish them and immediately want another one!!! It's similar to Chinese food --– satisfies you very much but after an hour or so, you are hungry for more!!!! LOVE JACK KERLEY'S BOOKS ALREADY AND HAVE PUT HIS WEBSITE (WHEN COMPLETED) ON MY FAVORITES LIST.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
Robert B. Parker, Patricia Cornwell, Nevada Barr, Jonathon King, Dennis Lehane, etc.

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
I thought THE HUNDREDTH MAN was a great start for a new series. All of the expected elements of a good detective/thriller novel with some totally unexpected twists thrown in that keeps you guessing. Without giving away anything, I felt that the villain of the story was one of the best, most chillingly written characters I've read in quite a while.

Would you read future titles by Jack Kerley?
Definitely.

What other suspense/thriller writers do you read?
I enjoy thrillers and usually read Patricia Cornwell and Mary Higgins Clark.

What did you think of THE HUNDREDTH MAN?
I received the book and had it finished in three days. Would have been sooner but had to go to work. I found the book well written. The Preface was a unique way to introduce the reader into the situation without too much information, which some books do too early. His writing reminded me of P. Cornwell, detailed but not cumbersome with too much information. He smoothly told the story of the killer and the detective, which gave us insight as to why Ryder was the perfect choice for solving this case. We are given small flashbacks into both characters' past and it helped to build the climactic ending. I felt the writing flowed and the characters had enough dimension that we could honestly care about the storyline.

Would you read future titles by Jack Kerley?
I would definitely read the next book written by Mr. Kerley. He has a style worth reading.
