WATERLEO@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
P.D. James

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
Great ---- suspenseful but a bit too graphic for me

Would you ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
Yes, She writes a fast-paced, thriller and taps into women's feelings.

Arlherman@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Sandra Brown, James Patterson, Nelson DeMille, Ken Follett, Faye Kellerman, Jonathan Kellerman, John Grisham, John Lescroart, Robert Ludlum, David Baldacci, Lisa Scottoline, Dan Brown and more

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
I am an avid suspense/thriller reader and found RETRIBUTION to compare favorably to the works of the author's listed above. The book was excellent in every way.

The characters were real and unforgettable. I felt all the emotions CJ experienced as she rode on her emotional roller coaster. Although I do not usually enjoy reading books containing rape as a subject matter, the book was well written and held my attention throughout.

I did not suspect anyone other than William Bantling as being the killer until the mention that the killer was in the courtroom. Until this point was totally involved in the plot as presented and was completely surprised by this plot twist. The ending was so nail biting exciting that I could not read fast enough to learn the outcome.

Again, I totally enjoyed reading RETRIBUTION and would look forward to reading another book written by Jilliane Hoffman.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Ridley Pearson, Greg Iles, John Grisham, Scott Turow, and Stephen King.

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
Very suspenseful and well written with vivid characters, realistic dialogue, and clever plot twists.

One note: Hoffman did a wonderful job of making understandable the legal and police procedural jargon and acronyms, as well as the medical terminology.

Another note: In chapter one, I found the graphic language and description jarring; I hoped it wouldn't continue though the entire novel. I'm glad that it did not. Once I got past chapter one I was swept away with the story and the character of Chloe/CJ. After that, I had a hard time putting the book down.

Would you ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
Yes! I have already recommended her book to some of my friends.

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I enjoy Nelson DeMille and have read all his books. I have read Michael Crichton, John Grisham, James Patterson, David Baldacci, and Robin Cook.

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
I read RETRIBUTION very quickly. It was a book that was difficult to put down. It is not the type of book I usually pick up, but I did enjoy it. I find the subject pretty intense and sometimes it can stay with me and be very unsettling. I thought Jilliane developed the characters so that I really identified with C.J. or Chloe. The plot was well thought out and although I anticipated the ending, it was fairly well done. I did appreciate the ending and felt it left me feeling satisfied for all the characters. I am familiar with the South FLA area and found that made the story more interesting for me. I can definitely see this being developed into a screenplay.

Would you ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
I would read Jilliane Hoffman titles again and would recommend this title to friends.

mysabine@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Tess Gerritsen, Joseph Finder, and Nelson DeMille. I read just about anything I can get my hands on. The library loves me cause I always have overdue fines, and Barnes & Noble Booksellers know me by name.

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
I enjoyed reading RETRIBUTION. I thought it was well written, it held my interest and was a fast read. Just enough twist and turns to keep me wondering who really did it.

Would you ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
I most certainly would! I think Jilliane has many more interesting stories she can tell.

pdralle@yahoo.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
Lee Child, G.H. Ephron, Dennis Lehane, Marcia Muller, Sara Paretsky, Robert Parker, Kathy Reichs, and Stephen
White.

What did I think about Retribution?
This is a terrific, suspenseful thriller which I finished in two days! I was completely caught up in Chloe's character and the moral dilemma she faced. I would definitely recommend this book.

Would I ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
Definitely, yes!

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read just about any that are published which is why I was so excited to have a debut author being featured.

What do you think of RETRIBUTION?
I really enjoyed Jilliane Hofffman's debut work. In the beginning chapters we are introduced to Chloe Larson, a young law student in New York City in 1988. She is the victim of a horrible rape. The tale picks up in Florida twelve years later. Chloe has changed her name and is known as C.J. Townsend, who is now a prosecutor assigned to work the Cupid serial killer murders. Cupid's trademark is to remove his victim's hearts. The book wastes no time in setting up the tale. A man named William Bantling is pulled over in a traffic stop and a dead woman is discovered in his trunk. This apparently is the latest victim of the cupid killer. As William Bantling is arraigned in court, C.J. recognizes his voice as that belonging to her rapist. How she deals with the conflict to ensure her attacker is brought to justice, how she handles the lies and evasive answers of a rookie patrolman regarding the routine traffic stop and how she and Dominick deal with a budding romance was enough to keep me interested. I knew there would be a twist involved but was leaning in another direction. Any author who can mislead me for a good portion of their book --- well, all I can say is Good Work!

Would you eve read future Jillian Hoffman titles?
Yes, I will definitely put Ms. Hoffman on my watch list. I look forward to her next work.

WVMama1@aol.com

What other suspense/thriller authors do you read?
I read many books. The suspense thriller authors that come to mind are Stuart Woods, David Baldacci and Tess Gerritsen.

What did you think of RETRIBUTION?
Retribution is not the type of suspense I usually read, too graphic for my tastes. As a public reference librarian I'd be cautious with my recommendations of this title with our patrons. If they read this type already, I would definitely recommend it. I found it be written well and the plot was quite interesting. C. J. Townsend (Chloe Larson) is portrayed as human --- makes mistakes and doesn't always act ethically. But she is believable and the reader can be sympathetic toward her.

Would you ever read future Jilliane Hoffman titles?
I would probably read other titles authored by Jilliane Hoffman. It would depend on the plot, etc., as revealed on the jacket blurb.
