D.W. Buffa
Recurring Characters:
Edgar Award nominee D.W. Buffa has written a host of acclaimed legal thrillers. Here are profiles of some of the popular recurring characters who appear in his work.
Joseph Antonelli
With an outstanding track record, Joseph Antonelli is one of Portland's top defense attorneys. Though his personal life if often rocky, his professional life speaks for itself. Antonelli takes his duties as a defense attorney seriously and tends to be a workaholic: it is his job to defend people accused of crime --- it is the prosecution's job to prove his clients are guilty without any reasonable doubt.
Helen Lundgren
With a penchant for calling Antonelli's clients by the crime they are accused of ("the murderer is here"), Helen is one of Joseph's strongest supporters. A longtime secretary, she has kept his office in shape for years.
Harper Bryce
Lawyers have a love/hate relationship with the media --- but Harper Bryce has been one of Joseph Antonelli's friends and confidants for years. Covering trials long before Antonelli began trial work, Harper's hard- working, perceptive and outspoken nature usually compliments Joseph's personality.
Gwendolyn Gilliland-O'Rourke
With firm political aspirations Gwendolyn Gilliland O'Rourke is a fierce prosecutor --- and longtime rival of Joseph Antonelli. Though often adversaries in the courtroom, their feuding relationship is more personal than either would care to admit.
Horace and Alma Woolner
With a booming voice and considerable presence, Horace Woolner is one of Joseph's longtime friends. The prosecutor-turned judge's wife, Alma, is also a friend of Joseph's. The trio's relationship is put to the test early on in the series.
