Characters:

Lincoln Rhyme
The former head of NYPD forensics, Lincoln Rhyme was left paralyzed from the neck down after being injured during a case. Now he serves as a consultant when law enforcement officials need assistance with forensic details.

Sarcastic, impatient, and at times bitter, Rhyme relies on his sharp perception skills and his talent for deduction to get him through his physical hardships, as well as his cases. He also relies on the woman he loves --- Amelia Sachs.

Amelia Sachs
With her flaming red hair and her take-charge personality, Amelia Sachs is hard to ignore --- as is her talent for crime scene investigations. While "walking the grid," Sachs serves as Rhyme's eyes, ears, and legs as she looks for physical evidence that can help the team solve crimes.

Passionate about her cases, Amelia is determined to keep from becoming hardened by the destruction she often encounters. She is also determined to make a life with Lincoln work.

Thom
Serving as Lincoln's aide, Thom is responsible for monitoring Rhyme's physical condition. Thom also helps Lincoln with ongoing cases by serving as a coordinator of sorts: writing notes on the board and keeping material organized. Sharp and dedicated, Thom can dish out quick comebacks as fast as Lincoln can issue his often-acerbic remarks.

FBI Agent Fred Dellray and NYPD's Lieutenant Lon Sellitto, Roland Bell, and forensics whiz Mel Cooper are friends of Lincoln's and Amelia's who often call upon Lincoln to consult on complex, high profile cases. Though opinions and methods often clash, the four men have great respect for Lincoln and Amelia, and greatly appreciate Lincoln's talent and insight.
