Celebrity journalist Bailey Weggins is always up for a mystery. If she doesn't find trouble, then trouble finds her. At the moment, her job covering the celebrity crime beat at Buzz magazine is less than challenging, so it's a no-brainer when Chris Wickersham, star of the hot new television show "Morgue," comes to Bailey and asks for her help in finding missing friend and co-star Tom Fain. Always one to assist those close to her, Bailey dives into this latest challenge willingly.
Bailey and Chris share a brief history, but their relationship never made it past the heavy petting stage due to Bailey's baggage from a previous romance. Now Chris is back in New York, looking hotter than ever and making Bailey's pulse race. How much temptation can one woman stand? Before she knows it, Bailey is knee deep in the mystery and in a relationship of sorts with the hunky actor who just happens to be 10 years her junior.
At first, it's unclear whether Tom took off of his own free will or met with foul play. He had been suffering from depression and prescription drug addiction after the death of both parents, but to everyone's knowledge, he had fought those demons and won. He was also disgruntled with his supporting roll on "Morgue," but that also doesn't seem like a good enough explanation for his disappearance without a word to anyone. It doesn't take long for Bailey to get to the bottom of the situation --- but what she discovers only creates more questions than what it answers.
To add fuel to the fire, former love interest Beau Regan has returned from Turkey and is less than thrilled to see Bailey with her new guy. Is it possible to be in love with two men at once? While some women may be searching for a relationship, it's raining men in Bailey's corner of New York.
Amidst all the romance in the air, Bailey is still trying to get to the bottom of Tom's situation. There is no shortage of suspects; cast and crew members provide a laundry list of people who might have wished Tom ill, in addition to the financial advisor in charge of his inheritance and several love interests both current and past.
When she starts receiving eerie calls on her cell phone, Bailey knows she's getting closer to a solution. Then, a night out almost turns into tragedy, and an intruder uses devious methods to gain access to Bailey's apartment. It's obvious that the killer isn't kidding around.
Whenever I learn that Kate White has a new Bailey Weggins mystery on the shelves, it's an automatic buy for me. LETHALLY BLOND doesn't disappoint. Bailey is fun and trendy and deals with life, love and work just as all women do today. She manages to get into and out of hot water faster than a tea bag, and it's always fun to see what she's going to do next.
