For anyone who has loved Clive Cussler's books and his hero Dirk Pitt, CLIVE CUSSLER
AND DIRK PITT REVEALED is the ultimate companion book. It will get readers pulling titles
off their shelves for a quick re-read and running to bookstores for the books they've
missed.
There is so much about the author and the hero in this over 500-page title that you will
want to hunker down with it and study it like a book from a favorite class. It's better
than any biography that could have been written on Cussler since his story is really the
story of him --- and Pitt.
There's a terrific interview with Cussler done by Craig Dirgo --- who co-authored THE SEA
HUNTERS with him --- that had me laughing so hard that the staff kept coming into my
office to read over my shoulder. Cussler tells a good story whether it is writing a Pitt
adventure or relating the tale of how he was first published. By the time you
finish the interview you'll be looking around to see if he wants a shot of the tequila
that he and Pitt favor --- that's how real, honest and in-depth the interview is.
The book has a special story called "The Reunion" that is a terrific tale which
weaves many of Cussler's more memorable characters into one story. There's a listing of
the 82 cars which are now part of Cussler's famous collection. And then there's the core
of the book, a synopsis of every Pitt novel, as well as a concordance complete with A-Z
listing of every major character, car, ship, weapon and so much more that can be found in
every novel.
And lest fans wonder what's next for Cussler, the book closes with a chapter from his next
book, ATLANTIS FOUND which of course, is another Pitt adventure.
This is the kind of book which can inspire a reader to discover a new author as much as it
can take a devoted fan down a road of fond memories.
