Even if you find Steinbeck a little heavy, you'll like this straightforward novella about Lenny and George, two drifters who find the safety and security they've been searching for --- well, almost. Like most of Steinbeck's stories, OF MICE AND MEN ends in tragedy, but it features two genuinely likable characters and a simple but effective story. If nothing else, OF MICE AND MEN serves as a good introduction to Steinbeck's work.
