Readers' Comments for The Apple Orchard

In April, a select group of readers who participated in one of our contests won copies of THE APPLE ORCHARD by Susan Wiggs. It's a story of family ties --- both old and new --- of the moments that connect our hearts and of the unexpected treasures life sometimes presents us with. Susan Wiggs brings readers to the lush abundance of Sonoma County in a novel of sisters, friendship and how memories are woven like a spell around us. Take a look at some of the readers' comments to give you more insight into this moving story.

I loved THE APPLE ORCHARD by Susan Wiggs. The characters were extremely well developed and the plot had many twists and turns. My mind wandered back to Archangel, Tess and the other characters long after I finished the last page. I definitely will highly recommend this book to my friends. Truly a wonderful book!

Well, if you've read Susan Wiggs, you know to expect a good read, and this is just one more to add to that list. I enjoyed it very much; it has your love story, family story and a good mystery. I would recommend THE APPLE ORCHARD to all.

I just finished reading THE APPLE ORCHARD...I could not put it down. The characters and setting all came alive as I was reading. How could anyone not like this book?

Once I started reading it, I could hardly put it down. I felt like I was right there in the thick of things. I wasn't a good history student in high school or college, but this book made it so enjoyable to read about. I felt like I was a part of each character's life --- feeling his or her pain and emotions. I could just see this book made into a wonderful movie.

Really enjoyed the story. Thanks for giving me the chance to read it. The characters’ stories in THE APPLE ORCHARD intrigued me and I just kept reading. Maybe because I anticipated some outcomes, I just had to keep reading to see if I was correct. I would definitely recommend this as book club fare. I have only read one other book by Susan Wiggs. This won't be the last.

I have read all of Susan's books and was thrilled to be able to read this one.  First, I think that this book takes Susan to a new level of writing. Her previous books were mostly romance. This book has a plot that is much more developed. The story within the story was very well done and not at all confusing. I liked the way that everything was tied up at the end --- none of it seemed to be forced and the ending was well supported by the story that came before it. Overall, I thought that it was a great read and I definitely enjoyed it.  My only complaint was that the character of Isabel was not well explained. I wrote to the author who told me that she was currently writing the story of Isabel for her next book. I am definitely looking forward to that.

When I picked this book up, I had a hard time leaving it. The atmosphere of the Sonoma apple orchards was overwhelming. I enjoyed the two storylines --- past and present. The characters became very real. I hear that this is the start of a series, and I would love to read the next book.
