In July 2011, Lisa Ballantyne was overseas on business when her debut novel was submitted to publishers. She returned to Glasgow to hear that she had been offered a deal with top UK publisher Little, Brown.
"I just couldn’t believe it. I had recently returned from a business trip and it was a lovely sunny day and I was standing on the grass surrounded by students sunbathing, hearing this most incredible news."
Months later, Lisa was helping to organize a large-scale international event at work when she heard news from the Frankfurt Book Fair that THE GUILTY ONE had become a runaway success, with Little, Brown negotiating a huge number of international rights deals.
"When we got the US deal, I was standing on a dark railway platform by myself, headed home. Again, I just couldn’t believe it was happening."
