award-winning author of 46 novels, Joan Johnston is a former Miami
attorney, newspaper editor, college professor and drama critic (she
has a bachelor’s in theater arts, a master’s in theater
and a juris doctorate in law from the University of Texas).
To lend her books that air of authenticity, she travels far and wide and does firsthand research. For her Bitter Creek series, she toured the legendary King Ranch in South Texas and took a course on tracking (humans and animals) from a deputy marshal deep in the Big Bend country of West Texas. She has also taken firearm courses to give her suspense writing that bite of reality and traveled to Australia to tour the big cattle stations there.
A member of the Authors Guild, Romance Writers of America, and Novelists, Inc., she divides her time between homes in Colorado and Florida. Her books have appeared on the New York Times, USA TODAY and Publishers Weekly Bestseller Lists.
