Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Lucie Whitehouse's THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT.

Josh from New York, NY

What other authors do you usually read?
I read a little of everything, but names that keep popping up are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Clive Cussler, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn and Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child.

What did you think of THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT?
I loved it! It was very emotional, which is rare for me to love, but I couldn't tear myself away from the characters and their drama.

Would you ever read a future book by Lucie Whitehouse?
Definitely

Lisa from Conshohocken, PA

What other authors do you usually read?
In fiction, I like Anita Shreve, Elizabeth Gilbert, John Grisham, Sue Miller, Lisa Scottoline, Barbara Kingsolver and some of the classics, such as J. D. Salinger.

Lately, I've been reading a lot of nonfiction on many topics, mostly in the areas of psychology or nutrition. Some other favorites are Jon Krakauer and Anna Quindlen (fiction and nonfiction).

What did you think of THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT?
I truly enjoyed it. One of the things I liked the most was the author's ability to keep the book current, with references to such things as text messaging, while at the same time describing the historic mansion and the items in it (such as the artwork) with such detail. I also felt like I really knew the characters, and at times, it almost seemed as if I were right there with them because of her great descriptions.

Would you ever read a future book by Lucie Whitehouse?
Yes, I look forward to the next one.

Louise from Yuma, CO

What other authors do you usually read?
Other authors I usually read are John Grisham, Michael Crichton, James Patterson, Raymond Khoury, James Lee Burke, Harlan Coben, Tony Hillerman and Dick Francis.

What did you think of THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT?
Lucie Whitehouse is an astonishing new author. Her word pictures are vivid and detailed. THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT is unsettling and the tension never eases, even at the conclusion.

Would you ever read a future book by Lucie Whitehouse?
I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Whitehouse.

Sherry from Broken Arrow, OK

I thought it was a good read; the relationships felt real, as if it could be your own group of friends.

Would you ever read a future book by Lucie Whitehouse?

Doris from Chandler, AZ

I read David Baldacci, Sandra Brown, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Robert Crais, Janet Evanovich and many others.

What did you think of THE HOUSE AT MIDNIGHT?
I had a difficult time getting into it, but once I got about a quarter of the way through, I couldn't put it down.

Would you ever read a future book by Lucie Whitehouse?
I'm not sure. I prefer American authors who write novels with settings in the United States.
