Here are comments from our group of Advance Readers about Eli Gottlieb's NOW YOU SEE HIM .

Dana from Jackson, MS

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
No, I have not.

What other authors do you usually read?
I read Ian McEwan, John Grisham and Jane Austen.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
The extreme detail made me feel as though I were a part of the story. It was difficult to stop reading and get back to my life.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Yes!

Janet from Phoenix, AZ

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
This is the first book I have read by Eli Gottlieb.

What other authors do you usually read?
I read a wide range of authors. I especially enjoy Jodi Picoult and buy everything she writes. I think Erin McCarthy and Melissa Marr are huge young talents.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
I enjoyed the book, though it was slow in spots. I think he did a good job of delving into the psychology of Nick and why he acted as he did.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Yes, I would.

Janet from Youngsville, NC

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
No.

What other authors do you usually read?
I read mostly mystery and suspense novels. Among the authors are Cynthia Harrod- Eagles, Denise Hamilton, William Tapply, Sue Grafton, William Lashner, Marcia Miller, Joe R. Lansdale, and Joseph Wambaugh.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
It was a very stirring and insightful book, revealing a complicated and emotional life from the viewpoint of the repressed man living it. We see that the moral and ethical ramifications of people doing what they consider the right and loving thing can have far-reaching effects on the lives of others. I was definitely surprised by the ending ---somehow, that possibility had never remotely occurred to me. I'll be thinking about this book for a while…

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Yes, definitely. I've put THE BOY WHO WENT AWAY on my wish list.

Carol from Omak, WA

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
No.

What other authors do you usually read?
I read J. A. Jance, Sue Grafton, Marcia Muller, Lisa Scottoline, Dick Francis, John Grisham, Stuart Woods, Jodi Picoult, Jennifer Chiaverini, Jonathan Kellerman, Faye Kellerman and many others.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
I am not sure. It was well written, but such a sad story. I know this type of story is popular now and this in one of the best I have read. It will be a hard story to forget.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Probably try one more.

Dan from Milwaukee, WI

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
No, I have not.

What other authors do you usually read?
I have a pretty wide selection of “favorite authors,” although I seem to lean towards mysteries lately. Robert B. Parker, Herman Wouk, Bernard Cornwell, Joseph Heller, Lawrence Block, Robert Jordan, Lee Child and John Sandford are a few of the 'big' names.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
I certainly enjoyed the premise of the novel. As an author, Gottlieb has a strong talent for turning a phrase and making it jump off the page, but I had some difficulty getting into the book itself. At times, it seemed the narrator was so immersed in nostalgia and his own self-analysis and grief that it was difficult for the reader to overcome that and see the overall story. Still, a very solid book by Gottlieb.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
It would certainly depend on the book itself, but sure.

Stephanie from Easton, PA

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
No, I've never read a book by Eli Gottlieb.

What other authors do you usually read?
I don't usually read books based on author. I read based on the book, so I don't have favorite authors that I look for when shopping or choosing for my book group.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
I enjoyed this book very much. I thought the characters were edgy and unique, and the plot kept me interested. Some parts were predictable, but not boring. The downside of this book for me was that there wasn't a great deal of character development, so I didn't feel like I knew the people and therefore I didn't get attached or form an emotional connection. I might have enjoyed it a bit more if I had.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Yes.

Michelle from Highlands Ridge, CO

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
I've never read a book by Eli Gottlieb before, but as a young writer myself, I am going to add him to my list of "people to watch."

What other authors do you usually read?
I love Geraldine Brooks and have truly enjoyed her newest, PEOPLE OF THE BOOK. I have pretty eclectic taste, however, and my reading list goes from fiction to non-fiction regularly. I recently finished RULE NUMBER TWO by Dr. Heidi Squier that I really liked.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
This book had great use of language and was very easy to get into. I think that the story was engaging from the start, even though I usually don't like stories about same-sex relationships --- just a personal preference on my reading material. But, I really enjoyed the angle of the main character as a writer, and the struggles between past relationships and the tug of the past on the present. Also, it was interesting to see the protagonist struggling with what I saw as a fear of failure/success conflict.

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
Yes, I think I would.

Tia from Collinsville, AL

Have you previously read a book by Eli Gottlieb?
I have many favorite authors. Right now I'm reading Joy Fielding and Mark Childress.

What did you think of NOW YOU SEE HIM?
I recommend NOW YOU SEE HIM --- I thought it was a very good book. The characters were very real, with problems that many of us face and depending on how you look at things, will never have to deal with. This book also brought out my own thoughts of how far I would go for a best friend.

The only thing that I thought was negative, in my own opinion, was that Mr. Gottlieb seemed to run on about certain thoughts that the main character (Nick Framingham) had. To me, it seemed he tried to use as many words as he could to describe a moment, when less would have worked just as well (but then again, he's published and I'm not). Other than that, it didn't detract from the story and bog it down. It flowed nicely and kept you interested until the end for the startling revelation that ties the story together, and makes you think, "so that's why."<

Would you ever read a future book by Eli Gottlieb?
I would love to see more novels from Mr. Gottlieb and would really love to see a continuation of Nick's story, to see if he can ever get it together. Belinda would make a strong character for a stand-alone novel, with all her festers and complexities, and a prequel for Rob, his character would deserve to have his whole story told in more detail from the beginning and why he ended up where he did in NOW YOU SEE HIM.
