| Our 7th Anniversary! |

| On August 26th we will celebrate the 7th Anniversary of Bookreporter.com. The other day I was IMing with one of our former staffers and she said that working with Bookreporter.com gave her some of the most special friendships in her life. I know what she means.
For me the last 7 years has been a wonderful experience working with a group of dedicated and truly gifted staffers; reading the work of our fabulous reviewers; exploring an ever-growing list of talented authors, who have shared their work with us; yapping with publishers and agents who get books into our hands and writing for you, our loyal readers.
Whether we are polishing copy, developing interview questions or plotting out features --- it's all a wonderful adventure. But one of my favorite parts of each day is reading reader mail. Seeing your comments and feedback gives us ideas and energy.
I will say what I say each year when we mark this occasion. I have the best job --- thanks to readers like you.
With a lineup like we have this week, you will see we are not resting on our laurels at all. Here are a couple of high notes for the week.
As promised, we are launching our new Chick Lit feature. Each month we will be spotlighting a different book and author. We kick off with PUSHING 30 by Whitney Gaskell, which will be in stores on September 30th. We are offering 20 advance copies of this book to readers to read and comment on. Interested? See the details below. (By the way, I loved this book!)
For our Word of Mouth book this week we are adding something special. Stan Pottinger, author of THE LAST NAZI will personally inscribe a message to each of the five Word of Mouth winners. We're crazy about this book and are thrilled to have this special extra to add for winners.
Some of my favorite books are reviewed below including SOUTHERN LIVING, THE SINNER and MORTAL REMAINS. I always take such pleasure in seeing how reviewers write about the books I have read. Thanks to Bethanne Patrick and Joe Hartlaub for the great job on these this week.
Well, the weather forecast looks good and we are taking advantage of it! Next week I am taking a week off to hit the beach on the Outer Banks, and the staff is getting a very well-deserved break. Our next update will come to you on Friday, September 5th. Here's wishing you a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
I am off to pack. Right now all I have packed is a stack of books. More on what I am reading when I get back. Seven days; seven books. That sounds like a great way to celebrate our seventh anniversary!
Thanks again for reading...oh and if you would like to celebrate with us, forward this newsletter to a friend and suggest they subscribe. Best present we could get!

| Our Chick Lit Feature: Our First Title --- PUSHING 30 by Whitney Gaskell |
As promised, here is our new Chick Lit feature. Each month we are going to feature a different title, invite readers to read one of 20 advance copies, and explore the author with a series of interviews and commentary.
Our first title is PUSHING 30 by Whitney Gaskell. Here are two lines that sum up the story. Ellie Winters, a woman who is dependable and loyal and has a near-phobic aversion to conflict. But as her thirtieth birthday looms ever closer, she starts to feel like she's lost the instruction manual to her life.
It's witty and smart and oh soooooo much fun. I spent a recent Saturday reading PUSHING 30 and while I am "just a tad over 30" now, I just loved it. If you want to be one of our 20 advance readers send mail with your name and mailing information at ChickLit@bookreporter.com.
