Planning a Firecracker Fourth!
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0399151648/thebookreport01
When we learned of Katharine Hepburn's death last Sunday I immediately thought about featuring her autobiography ME this week. Monday we learned that a very special memoir called KATE REMEMBERED will be released on Friday, July 11th. In 1983 when she was 75, Hepburn welcomed biographer, A.Scott Berg into her life to chronicle her stories and her most intimate thoughts. It was agreed that the book would not be published until her death. Hepburn was a celebrity who I admired enormously --- I liked her wit and her style --- and I look forward to reading this book.

In last week's newsletter I failed to share some extra on a book we featured, THE SERPENT'S KISS by Mark T. Sullivan, the first in his series about a San Diego detective. I read this book in manuscript last winter and was so impressed. It's a thriller that is well-researched and tightly written. Mark is going to be our July Author of the Month. Our feature on him will be live next week.

Lisa Gardner answers reader questions this week as part of our Suspense/Thriller feature. We loved reading what she had to say!

On ReadingGroupGuides we have announced our new "Best Of" lists, which highlight reading guides that readers feel are both Ongoing and New Favorites. If you are in a book club these are titles you may want to explore. We also now are including lists of the Top 25 Most Searched guides each month. See the home page of ReadingGroupGuides.com for more details.

This week we are kicking off our month-long celebration of SEABISCUIT, which will be in movie theatres on June 25th. We have a special contest where four readers can win books. See below for more details.

Monday, July 7th our William Lashner Contest ends and our Best of Summer Contest ends on Friday, July 11th. Enter now!

With the shortened work week for the holiday we are not doing a full update this week. We invite you to take another look at the reviews and features that we shared last week. Our next update will be next Thursday, the 10th.

Have a Firecracker Fourth. I have a pile of books waiting for me next to my lounge chair. Hope you find a special place to read --- and celebrate --- this weekend.

HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX by J.K. Rowling (Fantasy/Adventure)
