Dear Reader:
As I write this, the sun is shining, the pool water is crystal clear and there's a gentle breeze blowing. I am plotting what books are going to join me in the hammock this weekend. Here comes summer!
This week we have a full summer-oriented lineup for you with our Annual Summer Beach Reading Lists --- both hardcover and paperback. These are TWENTY FOUR titles that we think are perfect for the beach --- and the patio, backyard, terrace or rooftop garden.
Also, we've compiled another list of ten authors that you might like to commit to reading for the 14 weeks between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
And as promised, there's our summer contest, which I dreamed up when we were on the Outer Banks in April. We were in a rental house with no books! I started plotting the dream Vacation House Library and knew this was the summer contest idea. So here you go.
Enter our Summer Beach Reads Contest by telling us:"What 10 titles would you stock a vacation home with that would be ideal reading for your guests?" The prize? We will pick 5 random winners to receive a beach bag filled with the 12 hardcovers featured on Bookreporter.com's Summer Beach Reading List and 5 more random winners will receive a beach bag filled with the 12 paperbacks featured on our Summer Beach Reading List. And we'll post your lists all summer. See details here.
In our recent poll 69% of you said that you like shopping for books more than music, garden plants, videos, food or....bathing suits. For the record, I would love to meet the 31 (3.3% of poll respondents) who love bathing suit shopping most! You are a brave lot.
Please take a moment this weekend to remember our deceased veterans and keep in mind what Monday is really about!
Onto this week's lineup...
