Dear Reader:
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! I wish you breakfast in bed, endless pampering all day...and time to kick back and read a good book. For any of you last minute shoppers, we've pulled together some titles we think mom will enjoy in our MOTHER'S DAY ROUNDUP.
We've selected one book to be the cornerstone of our Mother's Day programming this year --- MIRACLES HAPPEN by Brooke and Jean Ellison. It's the inspiring story of a tragic accident that changed a young girl's life and the remarkable mother/daughter relationship that rebuilt it. We also have an interview with Brooke and Jean that will further reflect on the power of mother/daughter love. This is a book I have thought about again and again since I read it in early April.
Don't forget that this is the last week to enter our Dream Househusband Contest to win a $150 American Express Gift Cheque!
Quick request to all of you --- The Book Report Network is preparing to launch a new website called AuthorYellowPages.com this fall. This will be a directory of author websites that will be searchable by author name and genre. We're asking your feedback about your experiences with finding and reading author websites in this survey. Your answers will help us shape the programming so we are eager to hear from you. For all of you who already replied, many thanks!
Over the past few years the books in the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins have become some of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the year. The 10th book --- THE REMNANT: On the Brink of Armageddon - --- is due out July 2. We have an excerpt here. I started reading this series when book 8 came out and have become a huge fan. If you are a Left Behind reader, I'd love to hear your thoughts about the series. Drop me a note at Carol@bookreporter.com.
Be sure to check out our awards page to see the winners of the Agatha, Edgar, Audies, Book Sense, and Lambda awards.
Now onto our lineup for the week after we take a moment to honor Chuck Lang, one of our long-time reviewers and chat host guests who passed away this week.
IN MEMORIAM:
Chuck Lang (aka Luck87@aol.com) passed away May 6th. Chuck had been a long-time reviewer for Bookreporter.com. and a frequent visitor in our Bookaccino chat room. He was a teacher and administrator for high school and college, as well as an Associate Professor of English in California. In his spare time he did some acting in plays for the Actors Theater of Phoenix, Theatre Works in Glendale and the Northwest Studio. We send our sincere sympathies to his family; he will be greatly missed.
