Dear Reader:

Happy Spring! I for one am more than ready for green and color!

As I write this I have one eye on the clock as I am going to the Virginia Festival of the Book for the weekend. If you are in the area, I hope to see you there.

Last week I forgot to acknowledge the incredible response to our request for readers to read and comment on Terrence Cheng's book, SONS OF HEAVEN and share their feedback. We selected 10 readers and will have their comments for you in a few weeks. Apologies that I could not respond to each of you individually.

As promised, this week we offer another advanced reading opportunity. We have THREE copies of RUSH HOME ROAD by Lori Lansens that we will give away to a random drawing of readers. As I am traveling, please respond to Wiley@bookreporter.com. We'll need comments in the next three weeks. Here is a brief description of the book:

Sharla Cody is only five, but has already lived a troubled life --- only to find herself dumped on an elderly neighbor's doorstep when her mother takes off for the summer. Although Sharla is not the angelic child Addy Shadd had pictured when she agreed to look after her, the two soon forge a deep bond. To Addy's surprise, Sharla's presence brings back memories of her own childhood in Rusholme, a town settled by fugitive slaves in the mid-1800s.

Continuing our reporting on what readers are reading all over the country....
We received a letter from Maria Konicki Dinoia telling us that West Palm Beach is encouraging residents to read FARENHEIT 451 by Ray Bradbury. This event kicked off at the Palm Beach County Literacy Luncheon in which actor Danny Glover was the keynote speaker.

This Week's Question

The setting of a story often makes a reader wish he or she could actually be there. What country would you love to visit and what book did you read that sparked your interest in it?

Respond to the question of the week by sending mail to: Question@bookreporter.com.
